It’s National Athletic Training month, a time to educate about and advocate for this awesome profession!

Athletic trainers (ATs) are health care professionals who provide medical services for active patient populations. From injury prevention and enhanced wellness to rehabilitation and return to activity, ATs help people EVERYWHERE thrive in work, life and sport.

Happy NATM!

Yesterday my Olympic dream did not finish the way I dreamt it would. It wasn’t a story book ending or a fairy tail, it was just life. I dared to dream and had worked so hard to achieve it. Because in Downhill ski racing the difference between a strategic line and a catastrophic injury can be as small as 5 inches.

I was simply 5 inches too tight on my line when my right arm hooked inside of the gate, twisting me and resulted in my crash. My ACL and past injuries had nothing to do with my crash whatsoever.

Unfortunately, I sustained a complex tibia fracture that is currently stable but will require multiple surgeries to fix properly.

While yesterday did not end the way I had hoped, and despite the intense physical pain it caused, I have no regrets. Standing in the starting gate yesterday was an incredible feeling that I will never forget. Knowing I stood there having a chance to win was a victory in and of itself. I also knew that racing was a risk. It always was and always will be an incredibly dangerous sport.

And similar to ski racing, we take risks in life. We dream. We love. We jump. And sometimes we fall. Sometimes our hearts are broken. Sometimes we don’t achieve the dreams we know we could have. But that is the also the beauty of life; we can try.

I tried. I dreamt. I jumped.

I hope if you take away anything from my journey it’s that you all have the courage to dare greatly. Life is too short not to take chances on yourself. Because the only failure in life is not trying.

I believe in you, just as you believed in me.

Absolutely fascinating situation! This is a great article giving explanation to the question of “Why is it even possible for her to try this?” I’m rooting for her!

Vonn is not a normal patient with an ACL tear, which is why doctors believe she can compete just nine days after suffering a debilitating injury.

Not only does our on-campus weather station allow us to keep track of heat, lightning, and storms, it also gave us a beautiful view of the Aurora Borealis over ACES on Tuesday, November 11!

Love giving my students a chance to have fun doing hands-on learning! Crutch fitting, wound packing, ice bag making and wrapping, Ace wrapping, splinting/vacuum splinting, and spineboarding! They’ve done a great job learning these skills, and we’ve had a lot of fun!

Adair County Athletics is proud to launch its fundraising campaign that will end June 22nd!

⬇️The link to donate and our story are below⬇️
https://app.schoolfundr.org/fund/adair-county-high-school-weight-room-renovation

This renovation will benefit all students—not just our athletes. Our women's fitness class and physical education programs who use the facility will all gain access to a safer, more functional, and modern space. Your support will help us create an inclusive environment where everyone can focus on fitness, wellness, and performance.

The weight room is essential for our athletes, helping them build strength, endurance, and resilience that directly translate to better performance on the field and court. It also plays a key role in developing a tough, hardworking culture by teaching discipline, accountability, and mental grit. Consistent training in a well-equipped facility pushes our athletes to reach their full potential and represent Adair County with pride.

What all will this fundraiser include?
• A brand new red and blue dual column cable machine
•A brand new red and blue high/low lat pull down machine
• 9 refurbished benches with the “A” logo on the head rest

Adair County alumni Devin Bell (2006) and Trenton Watson (2014), both Physical Therapists at TJ Health Columbia Outpatient Rehab, joined us for class yesterday! They shared with us about the path to becoming a PT or PTA and the various settings available for employment in the rehab field. They also did a demonstration of Dry Needling and discussed the purpose, indications, and contraindications. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and even had the chance to try out the E-Stim machine, another modality commonly used in a rehab setting. We enjoyed their visit and appreciate them giving their time to share with us!
T.J. Regional Health is a huge supporter of our district and partners with us financially to help provide Athletic Training services to the students here on our campus. We appreciate all they do for our community!
(Videos in the comments since FB won’t let me add both to my post)
