Reduce Fall Risks at Home: Simple Tips for Safety
Falls can happen unexpectedly, but with a few adjustments, you can make your home safer and reduce the risk! Here are some easy steps to help:
1. Clear Clutter – Keep pathways free of obstacles like shoes, cords, rugs, and furniture.
2. Install Grab Bars – In bathrooms, add grab bars near the toilet, shower, and tub for extra support.
3. Improve Lighting – Use nightlights in hallways and bathrooms to improve visibility at night.
4. Non-slip Mats – Place non-slip mats in the bathroom, shower floor, and on stairs to prevent slipping.
5. Check Your Footwear – Wear shoes that fit well and have non-slip soles. Avoid walking barefoot on slippery floors.
6. Stair Safety – Ensure stairs are well-lit, have secure handrails, and remove any tripping hazards.
A few small changes can make a big difference! If you need more personalized advice or help, consult your physical therapist. Stay safe, stay steady!

WHY PHYSICAL THERAPY?
Physical Therapist are allied health medical professionals who are movement specialists. We team up with our physical therapy assistants to evaluate and treat patients with physical impairments like pain, stiffness, lack of mobility, balance deficits, weakness, decreased coordination and overall functional disabilities. We provide conservative treatment that may help prevent surgeries and worsening of symptoms, which can then improve function and quality of life.
We are more than happy to provide a consult if you will benefit from our services. For more information, call our office at 410-884-0003.
