April 6th-12th is National Public Health Week—a time to recognize how important our overall health truly is, including mental health. Public health isn’t just about physical wellness; it’s about supporting safe, healthy communities where people can thrive emotionally and mentally as well.

In the Office of Mental Health, we see every day how access to support, education, and resources can make a real difference. Mental health is health, and taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your body.

Hopeful Minds is a great website to find resources and information about caring for your mental health. Visit https://hopefulminds.crediblemind.com/ to browse hundreds of wellness topics for free.

Let’s continue working together to reduce stigma, support one another, and prioritize well-being in all aspects of life!

Our Story and Social Media Policy

The Office of Su***de Prevention (OSP) is a program of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health that is working to make South Carolina a Zero Su***de state. We do this through training, awareness, and collaboration with other state agencies, nonprofits, communities, and medical and behavioral health care systems. We operate under the firm belief that su***de is preventable, especially when communities are equipped with the knowledge and ability to help individuals struggling with thoughts of su***de.You can find more information about this effort and its organizers here: scyspi.org Disclaimer This page was developed [in part] under a grant number J12011002015 from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
