HOLISTIC IS NOT A MARKETING BUZZWORD.
The word holistic gets used a lot now. It is not just a marketing buzzword. I have always used the word holistic to describe my practice and how I treat the skin.

I have been seeing it used by clinics and spas that are definitely not holistic. I am not saying Botox is wrong or bad by any means. But if a clinic is doing Botox, filler or even acid peels, it is not holistic at all.

Holistic does still mean something special to me. The products and tools I use in my treatments reflect that.
Holistic means treating the whole person — restoring balance, supporting the body’s natural healing and honoring physiology.

All of the tools and techniques I use in my facials are to encourage rejuvenation in the skin naturally.

I’m grateful that I am able to do work that I love and also for the time off to enjoy the things in life that creating my own business has provided for me. I have to remind myself that is ok and necessary to take time off to re-charge.

How it started stories:
In 2019, I took it upon myself to organize a Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage training in Kansas City. It was an important skill I wanted to have and no training was scheduled anywhere near me.
I am so glad I was able to make that happen. I incorporate a little MLD into all of my facials. I am currently offering a special that is dedicated to lymphatic drainage of the neck and face.

How it started stories
This is me in my first career as a landscape gardener. I started when I was 18. I worked outside from February to November in the sun, wind, heat, cold, dirt and pollution for 11 years until I left for esthetics school at 29.

For a few months when I was starting out I did not use any sun protection, not even sunglasses. I was so naive. I also smoked. My skin became very sensitive, rough and congested. In the middle of my first season I started wearing a straw hat and sunscreen daily. Unfortunately I didn't protect my hands, but more about that in another post.

I am using myself as an example to show how great skincare and facial treatments truly work. Having access to rejuvenating skincare and knowledge of how to take care of my skin properly has saved my face from premature aging and significant sun damage. Now it is my joy and privilege to help you achieve healthy, radiant skin.

How it started stories

This photo is from 2013. My first steps to starting my own business was traveling to Geneva, Ill. for oncology esthetics training.

I still worked for a dermatologist at the time but I knew this was knowledge I wanted to have as I built my own practice.

It was the perfect place for me to begin. At this training I learned about gentle treatments for those experiencing cancer or have gone through treatments, and knowing the right questions to ask.

It was where I discovered Osmosis skincare which I still carry and is a foundation of my business. I learned about LED light, the Kansa Wand and the importance of understanding lymphatic drainage. I use these daily in my facials.

I began to build and grow my skills to deliver treatments that are gentle, effective and treat the whole person. This training was the building block to what I am doing now, my 10th year in business.
I’m so grateful I took the step to go out on my own. I’m still learning and that’s part of the fun.
