It’s that time of year again – back to school! Team members at Johns Hopkins Medical Imaging at Green Spring Station worked together recently to make the start of school smoother for local families. Staff collected a variety of supplies, including pencils, markers, binders, and more, to donate to local students in need. At Johns Hopkins Medical Imaging, our teams are committed to providing high-quality patient care as well as supporting the local community.

You can schedule select medical imaging exams – including mammograms, ultrasounds, CT, DEXA, and certain MRI and PET exams – online at your convenience. Grab your computer or smartphone and visit hopkinsmedicine.org/MyChart. Just log in to your account and select the date, time, and location that works best for you. Did you know that 40% of women have dense breasts? Dense breasts contain a higher proportion of glands and tissue to fat, making it harder to detect potential tumors during mammograms. According to a recent NPR article, while follow-up exams like MRIs can help detect more tumors in women with dense breasts, less than a tenth of eligible patients get these screenings.

At Johns Hopkins Medical Imaging in Bethesda, we offer exams to fit your busy schedule, including Fast Breast MRI. Fast Breast MRI is a screening exam for women with dense breasts who may not qualify for a conventional Breast MRI. The exam is a supplement to annual screening mammograms and takes around 10 minutes to complete compared to the conventional Breast MRI which is around 30 minutes long. It is not covered by insurance and the out-of-pocket cost is $475. Talk to your provider to see if Fast Breast MRI is right for you.
