A clinical trial evaluated the effects of lemongrass (C. citratus) EO in reducing painful menstruation in adolescents. A total of thirty female adolescents inhaled lemongrass EO—through direct inhalation via the nose—reporting remarkable decreases in pain during menstruation—a extraordinary 92.06% reduction.

When inhaled, the volatile compounds in lemongrass essential oil rapidly stimulate olfactory receptors and transmit signals to the limbic system, a brain region involved in emotion and pain perception. This neural interaction may promote relaxation, modulate stress-related neurotransmitters such as serotonin and endorphins, and indirectly reduce the perception of uterine cramping. Through this combined neurophysiological and calming effect, inhalation aromatherapy may help diminish menstrual pain intensity.

Black Spruce is considered a core adrenal tonic and respiratory remedy — valued for its cortisol-like, anti-fatigue, and inflammation support.

It’s one I reach for when the body feels run down, nerves are frayed, low on energy, or needing deeper support 🌿

💧 Adrenal Support Protocol (Daily Morning Treatment)

If you’re feeling a bit flat or tired:

🪵 Black Spruce – 20 drops
🌿 Thyme – 10 drops
🌸 Rosemary – 10 drops
🥥 Top with fractionated coconut oil (10ml bottle)

👉 Apply 4–5 drops to your lower back (either side of the spine) in the morning
(think: your “recharge zone”)

Use for 3 weeks, then take a break for 7-10 days. Restart again if needed.

🌬️ Respiratory & Immune Fatigue Blend

Perfect for those times when everyone around you is getting sick…

🌲 Black Spruce – 20 drops
🍃 Ravintsara – 20 drops
🌿 Eucalyptus – 20 drops
🌸 Thyme – 10 drops
🥥 Top with FCO (10ml bottle)

👉 Apply to chest + upper back morning & evening
👉 Diffuse Black Spruce + Ravintsara at home

💫 Neuroendocrine / Menopausal Fatigue Blend

For women navigating hormonal or emotional transitions

🌲 Black Spruce – 15 drops
🌸 Clary Sage – 10 drops
🌺 Geranium – 10 drops
🥥 Top with FCO (10ml bottle)

👉 Apply to lower back + feet in the morning

🍯 A simple internal option (short-term)

Sometimes I’ll add:
👉 1 drop Black Spruce in honey or a veggie capsule
for a few days when I need a little boost

(keep this short + always listen to your body)

What I love about Black Spruce is how grounding it feels, not a quick hit of energy, more like steady support.

The U.S. Department of Education has issued a proposed rule that could affect federal student loan access for licensure-leading Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine programs, along with many other health professions. If not addressed, the proposal could significantly reduce loan limits for AHM students and create new barriers to entry into the profession.

Along with CCAHM, and various partners in The AHM Coalition, the ASA urges you to:

*Submit a comment as a licensed acupuncturist
*Encourage your state association to submit a comment.
*Share this opportunity with your colleagues & patients.

Public Comment Deadline: Monday, March 2!

The brain controls the tongue through the same network that coordinates swallowing, chewing, and breathing.

When one side of the brain fires weaker, the tongue loses symmetry it presses harder on one side of the palate, and that side teeth and jaw grows differently.

The muscles of chewing then adapt: the masseter, temporalis, and pterygoids work unevenly, pulling the jaw slightly off-center.

Over time, this tension reshapes the bones, not just the muscles.

The result is the crooked bite, the tilted jawline, and the one-sided neck tension most people never connect back to their tongue.

You can correct the teeth, adjust the bite, or stretch the neck, but until the tongue learns to center again, the imbalance keeps returning.

Tongue position → affects jaw position → changes head/neck alignment → alters shoulder position → shifts rib cage → rotates pelvis → changes weight distribution in feet → sends incorrect signals back up through the entire chain. The fix starts with retraining tongue posture and restoring symmetry through the nervous system so both sides of the face grow and function in balance again.

Your tongue posture controls your jaw position, which affects your entire posture from head to feet. The Functional Activator retrains your tongue to rest on the palate automatically - fixing the pattern at the source instead of fighting symptoms.

Wanna learn how to fix your tongue posture? 🗣️ Comment “TONGUE”, 👅and we’ll send you information about a device, that can help correct it.

How’s your tongue posture?
