Congratulations to Dorothy for completing her therapy services! 🎉 We love to see our residents "graduate" 🎓 and walk out to cheers and congratulations from residents and staff, which we call a "Code H." Dorothy has been with us before, and was very excited to walk out the front door after her discharge as she was cheered on by everyone gathered in the main entrance hall. 👏❤️

🌟 Last week at our monthly all-staff meeting, associates with 5+ years of service to Life Care Center of Columbia were recognized and celebrated with a small token of appreciation and certificate commemorating their number of years with us! 👏

🎉 Stephanie Thompson, Health Information Management Director, was recognized for 30 years of service, and shared some of her experiences from the last 30 years and what her employment at Life Care Center of Columbia has meant to her. Faye Claude, CNA, recently celebrated 33 years, but wasn't able to attend.

We're proud of all of our associates and the difference they make in the lives of our residents, and truly grateful for all they do! ❤️

🤠 In celebration of a local holiday, Mule Day, Life Care Center of Columbia and The Bridge at Columbia held our 4th Annual Block Party and Lunch with grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and all the fixin's! 😋

🤩 We loved all the Mule Day/Western gear that folks showed up in! We are so thankful for the relationship we have as a continuum-of-care campus and the opportunity to come together as one company, on one campus, as one community. 🫶

🌟 Congratulations to Jazmin Figueroa, Social Services Assistant, our March Whatever It Takes Champion! 🎉

Jazmin was nominated for stepping up to the plate to run the Social Services Department when we were without a Director. There are many nights and weekends that Jazmin is contacted by family members, staff, and insurance providers regarding discharges, and she never complains. 🫶 Jazmin is a single mom to a teenage son and has rearranged her personal schedule to be at work so there is coverage in Social Services. Jazmin, affectionately known as "Fig," is a beautiful example of doing Whatever It Takes.

Did you know that about 1.1 million people in the United States are living with Parkinson's disease (PD)? 🌷

🧠 This progressive brain disorder is perhaps most well known for causing tremors, but other symptoms include loss of vocal volume, sleep disruptions, stiffness, and balance issues, among others.

Thankfully, there are ways to improve Parkinson's symptoms! 😀 Our therapy team offers rehabilitation services to help improve mobility, range of motion, function, and speech for those living with PD. Call us to see how we can support you or your loved one.

❤️ In March, we celebrated Social Work Month and recognized Jazmin Figueroa, Social Services Assistant, for all she does for our residents and families. Jazmin has been doing double duty the past few months, keeping the department running smoothly as she waits for the new Director of Social Services to join the team. We are so thankful that Jazmin is part of our Life Care family! 😊

We recently recognized and celebrated our Activities Department for all they do to enrich the lives of our residents! 👏 They do so much: music, movement, themed parties, ice cream socials, cooking club, trivia, arts and crafts, and everyone's favorite — bingo. Thank you for the joy, creativity and purpose you bring to our residents everyday. 💛

What does Occupational Therapy look like❓

It looks like someone practicing how to button a shirt again. 👔 Rebuilding the strength and dexterity to hold a coffee cup. ☕ Rehearsing the motions to prepare a simple meal and learning to use a reacher to safely pick things up without bending 🫳.

During Occupational Therapy Month, we’re celebrating the amazing therapists who help our rehab patients rebuild confidence, independence, and the skills that make daily life meaningful. 🫶
