If you have BCBS and have received letters stating that we are/or going to be out of network this is false information. After a week and a half of trying to get through to talk to an actual person from BCBS, I found out that it was a "system error" that occurred in August and that the "error" has been "corrected". Unfortunately, it was not corrected prior to the letters being generated and sent. Right now we are seeing it specific to BCBS of Illinois and Minnesota, but it could be for others. So sorry about this but I assure you we had nothing to do with it :-)

For our clients who have United Health Care insurances....UHC is starting to deny payments for allergy serum stating that it is not "medically necessary". For those claims that have been denied, we have sent medical records, as well as appealed and still they have denied payments. We have no choice but to move the balances to patient responsibility, and ask that if you are left with this amount as your responsibility, that you talk to your HR, or call your plan and ask for a reconsideration. Nothing has changed in the way we have provided care, billed insurances, and there has been no code changes leading to this. They just decided to no longer pay. Please help us get this fixed...

Does your child complain of an itchy mouth, tongue, or throat when they eat certain raw fruits and veggies? It could be Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS), also called Pollen-Food Syndrome (PFAS).

https://community.kidswithfoodallergies.org/blog/understanding-oral-allergy-syndrome

The pollens of some trees, grasses, and weeds are similar to the proteins of certain raw fruits, vegetables, seeds, or nuts. These food proteins cross-react and cause localized symptoms in the mouth or throat. Symptoms can be worse during the times when the pollen you are allergic to is highest - like now during ragweed season.

OAS/PFAS can cause symptoms such as an itchy or tingling mouth, face, tongue, or throat. There can be some mouth and throat swelling or hives where the food touches the skin. Rarely, OAS can trigger anaphylaxis, a serious allergic reaction, so it is important to know if you have OAS or a food allergy and how to treat it. Make an appointment with your child’s allergist if they are having allergy symptoms after eating foods.
