National Speech-Language-Hearing Month is recognized each May to raise awareness about communication disorders and the role of SLPs and audiologists in providing life-changing support.
Here are 3 simple ways SLPs can celebrate and apply this month in their everyday practice:
1. Add one communication access support this week
Model aided language input, offer visual supports, or ensure AAC systems are always available and charged.
2. Share one caregiver-friendly resource
A quick handout, milestone tip, or AAC strategy can make a meaningful difference outside of therapy sessions. Email support@rmspeech.com to gain access to our Knowledge Base articles!
3. Celebrate progress — big or small
Whether it’s a new sound, successful device use, increased self-advocacy, or a meaningful interaction, every communication win matters.
Thank you to the professionals, families, educators, and advocates helping create a world where everyone has access to communication.
