April 2021 TASC Force Member of the Month - We are thrilled to showcase a member each month in our community and Tim Elrod was selected in April!
Tim is a TASC Force Member and a follower of TASC on Facebook. He posted some great photos using our conference swag last year. Tim has worked at Seneca High School for 6 years and has been a resource teacher, Life Skills teacher and this is his first year as a SC High School Credential teacher. His favorite part of working with students is when they have been struggling with a concept, have that “aha moment”, grasp the concept and use it successfully.
These are Tim’s thoughts on the November 2020 TASC virtual conference: “There were great sessions at the TASC 2020 virtual conference. The School-Based Enterprise Session provided valuable information for those interested in beginning their own School-Based Enterprise. The information taken from this session has allowed me to coordinate with a colleague to begin developing a School-Based Enterprise at Seneca High. It will hopefully be implemented in the 2021-2022 school year.”
In Tim’s spare time during the school year, he serves as the Head Baseball Coach for Seneca High School’s C-Team. In the summer, he serves as the Head Baseball Coach for Easley American Legion Post 52. His family serves as the Latin America Host Family for the Senior League World Series that is held in Easley, SC. Spending time with his wife, daughters, and granddaughter is most enjoyable for him. Hiking, fishing, and traveling are squeezed into his summer as much as possible too.
“As a Special Education Professional, we have a unique opportunity to help students become a valuable member of the community through classroom experiences, transition skills, and social interactions. I tend to think of my job as a special education teacher as a travel agent. Students have encountered road blocks, or delays in their educational experiences. It is my job to help them find the best route to take to be successful.”
Thank you Tim for everything that you do!
To become a TASC Force Member, participants have attended a virtual training or conference in the past year and completed a brief survey. You can check out the home page of the TASC website to see all of our current members.
