When I first began my career as an SLP, I had no idea what direction it would take me in nor could I fathom the opportunities that would come my way. From New York, to Georgia, to Maryland, I have had experiences in schools, hospitals, and private clinics, each giving me a new tid-bit of knowledge and guidance to help me develop KGK Speech Services, today. Knowing the power that children had on my heart and mind, I chose to pursue my everyday “work” in pediatrics, and will never look back. Specifically, I have acquired a love and understanding for communication with children ages birth to three, whose teeny tiny hands and souls are just learning to navigate and explore this giant new world they’ve been given. Subsequently, I have grown to equally love these children’s families, as they play an integral role in their growth, development, and success.
Currently, I work in early intervention services for Prince George’s County. In addition, I am looking forward to serving local families, including military families, as I have a strong passion for the military community. As a military spouse, I pride myself in understanding the dynamics and effects of a transient lifestyle, compounded by the full time job of being a mother. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, son, and two furry babies. I love going to the gym, baking, browsing Pinterest, and reading blogs.
Every single day I am afforded the opportunity to guide children and their families to greater success in communicating together, playing together, and enjoying one another. My therapeutic focus employs a parent coaching model, with great emphasis on parent-child interactions, and play based approaches.
Learning to communicate should always be fun and it is my goal to empower family members and their little ones. I look forward to sharing my passion and experience with anyone who chooses to work with me in the future.
