Let’s talk about it—Menopause 101
Menopause isn’t a single moment in time—it’s a journey every woman experiences differently. It typically begins between ages 45 and 55, but symptoms can start earlier and last several years. This natural transition marks the end of menstrual cycles and the beginning of a new phase in a woman’s life.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the three stages of menopause and what your body might experience along the way:
1. Perimenopause:
This stage can begin years before menopause. Hormone levels fluctuate, and you might notice changes in your cycle, hot flashes, mood swings, or sleep disturbances.
2. Menopause:
Officially marked when you’ve gone 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period. Estrogen drops significantly, and symptoms like night sweats, vaginal dryness, and brain fog may become more noticeable.
3. Postmenopause:
The years following menopause. While some symptoms may ease, the risk of certain health conditions—like osteoporosis or heart disease—can increase, making wellness and regular check-ups more important than ever.
Your journey is valid. Your experience matters. And you’re not alone.
