As 2025 comes to a close, we are proud to celebrate the incredible legacy of Julie Ann Avin, who is retiring after an inspiring 30+ years of dedicated leadership at Mirci. When Julie Ann began her journey with us in the 1990s, our organization had only three employees. Through her unwavering commitment and vision, she has led Mirci to flourish—expanding our impact and transforming countless lives across the Midlands.

Julie Ann, your bold vision, tenacity, and compassion have shaped Mirci and inspired everyone around you. On behalf of the entire Mirci family, thank you for your remarkable service. Wishing you a retirement filled with happiness, adventure, and well-deserved relaxation! You will forever remain a cherished part of our Mirci family and story!

Today, we pause to honor the lives of our neighbors who died while experiencing homelessness.
Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day is observed each year on December 21-the winter solstice and longest night of the year-a time to reflect on loss, remembrance, and the dignity of every human life.

Each person had dreams. Each life held a story. As we remember those lost, we renew our commitment to compassion, dignity, and action, so that fewer lives are lost without a place to call home.

A week later, and we’re still feeling grateful!
With support from Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church HUGS program, Walmart-Forest Drive, and Lizard’s Thicket-Elmwood, our staff and their families delivered 192 Thanksgiving meals to our consumers and youth residents.
Thank you to every volunteer who gave their time over the holiday to spread joy and kindness!

Huge thank you to our community partner FoodShare for opening their kitchen to the residents of our male youth home! A couple of our guys got the chance to help prepare Thanksgiving side dishes for FoodShare clients. Opportunities like these give our residents a chance to learn new skills and build confidence, all while giving back to their community. Thank you to Kelly, Mike, Lilly, and everyone at FoodShare! We appreciate your continued support and collaboration.
