This is a microscopic view of seborrheic dermatitis that was on one of my client's scalp. The first one was before and the second one was after her treatment plan. Although direct scalp treatments can help reduce this issue, it needs to be treated from an internal perspective because it can be linked to poor gut health—though it’s not the sole cause. Here’s how they connect:

1. Gut-Skin Axis 💜

The gut and skin are connected through the gut-skin axis, meaning imbalances in the gut microbiome can affect inflammation and immune responses throughout the body—including the skin.

2. Overgrowth of Yeast (Malassezia) 💛

Seborrheic dermatitis is often associated with an overgrowth of Malassezia, a yeast that naturally lives on the skin. A compromised immune system or internal imbalance (like dysbiosis—an imbalance in gut bacteria) may allow this yeast to flourish.

3. Triggers Related to Gut Health:

• Dysbiosis (bad bacteria overgrowth)

• Candida overgrowth

• Food sensitivities (e.g., gluten, dairy)

• Leaky gut (intestinal permeability)

• Low stomach acid (impairs nutrient absorption and allows microbial overgrowth)

4. Nutrient Deficiencies 💛

Poor gut function can lead to deficiencies in:

• Biotin

• Zinc

• B vitamins (especially B6 and B12)

• Essential fatty acids

These nutrients are crucial for skin health and immune regulation.

If you are looking for a solution to your scalp issues, book your consultation today at Tamh2o.com.
