Encourgaging Individual Improvement for Community Empowerment
TMT Consulting has been in the community for five years, however, we have been doing the work for a lifetime. As for long has I can remember I have been exposed to the helping profession. My grandmother, mother, and aunt all have worked with individuals with different strengths than the average population most of my life. Even in primary school I would work with the children alternative needs classroom. I have grown up seeing those who have been underestimated and minimized be able to accomplish things that they were told that they couldn’t or would never do.
I myself had been written off, being told by a principal when attempting to finish high school that “if you can’t find a babysitter that maybe you shouldn’t come to school”. From the moment that I was told that I was a statistic I made up my mind that I would defy the odds and that I am the person who determines my destiny. Obtaining my GED was my biggest educational accomplishment! This has led to my love for the underdog and the belief that with support and encouragement that anyone can achieve anything!
The goal of our agency is to pour into others as we were poured into and to leave the world a little better than how we found it. There are many individuals along the way that gave me a push, a listening ear, a word of encouragement that have contributed to the agencies ability to be able to give back to the community. I have experienced a multitude of walks of life through my personal experiences to my formal employment. From working in Department of Corrections, Social Services, Division of Youth Services, Mental Health, with the Homeless, and Housing I have found that we all have similar struggles and just need the appropriate support in order to be successful.
