Our History

Dr. Klebanow founded the practice in 1982 and is pleased to report that of

Sadly for us, but wonderful for Dr. Piner and her family, she has the opportunity to move to North Carolina to be closer to both her and her husband's families. Her last day seeing patients will be Friday, May 29, 2026. Dr. Piner has been an incredible addition to our team, and we will miss her terribly!

A note from Dr. Piner:

It has been my greatest privilege to serve as a pediatrician to your children and your family. I am humbled by the trust you have given me to help take care of your children, and I treasure the relationships that we have formed. Many of you have also witnessed and shared in my own transition into motherhood over the last year. While incredibly bittersweet, it is necessary for my husband, daughter, and I to return to North Carolina to be closer to our families. Please continue to keep in touch as I will think often of your families, even from several states away.

A letter from Nurse Practitioner Mrs. Melissa Thistle:

After my husband retired, he’s been encouraging me to join him. I hesitated, because the relationships I’ve built with my patients and their families have filled my days with purpose and joy. You’ve been the reason I’ve kept showing up with a full heart.

After much reflection, I’ve decided it’s finally time for me to retire as well. It’s a deeply bittersweet transition. Caring for you—watching your children grow, sharing your milestones, and sometimes simply sitting with you through the hard moments—has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

Thank you for your trust, your kindness, and the privilege of letting me be part of your lives. I leave knowing you’ll continue to be cared for with the same dedication at Klebanow & Associates.

Today’s White House event on autism was filled with dangerous claims and misleading information that sends a confusing message to parents and expecting parents and does a disservice to autistic individuals.

We know autism is complex, highly variable and increasingly linked to genetics. Individualized plans, often involving a combination of developmental, behavioral, educational and social-relational strategies, can help improve outcomes that are meaningful to individuals and families. We also need and welcome additional investments in federally funded research to better support families of autistic children.

Families who have questions about their child’s medications, autism care plans or other health care should consult with their pediatrician or health care provider.

*** FLU SHOTS NOW AVAILABLE ***

We are pleased to announce that we have received our first shipment of flu vaccines! September clinics are now available by scheduling in your patient portal or by calling our office during normal business hours. If scheduling on the portal please make sure you receive confirmation that your appointment was scheduled successfully.

Flu vaccines are available to parents on a fee-for-service basis and will not be submitted to insurance. To schedule an adult flu vaccine appointment please call our office.

Many families have questions about the COVID vaccine. We are following this issue closely and should know more in the coming weeks. Updated information will be posted on our website and pages.

We are SO excited to welcome two new providers to the Klebanow family! 🌈🌸🎈

Dr. Shannon Bolten is board certified in Pediatrics. She grew up in Ellicott City, Maryland and attended the University of Maryland, College Park where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics. She then moved to Baltimore to complete her medical degree and pediatric residency training at the University of Maryland, where she graduated in 2023.
Dr. Bolten currently lives in the Ellicott City area with her husband and dog, Fiona. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking around Patapsco or adventuring to national parks, and trying new recipes out at home.

Jenna Cosentino is originally from Bel Air, MD. She earned her nursing degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and went on to work in pediatric oncology at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center for six years. She recently completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at the University of Maryland with a concentration in Pediatric Primary Care.
She currently lives in Baltimore with her fiancé, Max, and their dog, Louie. In her free time, she enjoys walking around their neighborhood of Canton, exploring new restaurants, spending time with friends and family and cheering on the Ravens and Orioles!
