Exercise in general is useful for wellness and increasing circulation, but yoga has the added benefit of combining deep breathing with a wide range of bodily movements.
Studies have observed that the twisting, folding, bending forms of yoga promote circulation by wringing out venous blood from internal organs and replenishing the organs with fresh oxygenated blood upon release of the pose.
Through a similar process, yoga also floods stagnant areas of cartilage with fresh oxygen and nutrients which can help to treat or prevent joint ailments like arthritis and back pain.
None of our cells can survive without oxygen and nutrients from our bloodstream, but just because your heart is pumping, doesn’t mean all the cells are receiving the nutrition they need. Yoga, acupuncture, and osteopathic manipulation are all fantastic ways to locate areas of stagnation, improve circulation, and feel your best.
