Dr. Shivani Patel, a Pediatric Dermatologist and Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, was featured on WMAR-TV's Midday Maryland program to discuss her work treating pediatric skin conditions. Dr. Patel is one of only a few Pediatric Dermatologists in Maryland. She has built her career on combining her expertise with a compassionate approach to children with a variety of skin disorders and their families. She was also instrumental in creating the new University of Maryland Dermatology practice located in Lutherville. The goal of the practice is to bring the University of Maryland School of Medicine's advancements in care and clinical expertise into the community and to patients of all ages. Dr. Kalpesh Vakharia and a team of UMMC surgeons took an innovative approach to remove a rare cancerous tumor that wrapped around a woman’s spine and spinal cord,through her eye socket. Dr. Vakharia serves as Chief of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UMMC and is an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
