This week, CCHA’s Executive Director Julie Smithwick participated in a panel focused on the health care workforce and access to care in South Carolina’s P*e Dee region, where she shared the value and cost saving opportunities provided by Community Health Workers with state and local policymakers. The panel was presented as part of the Regional Health Policy Fellows Program hosted by the South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health (IMPH).

We’re also quite proud to partner with IMPH in our work on the SC Roadmap to Address Social Determinants of Health. Our collaboration strengthens our shared commitment to collectively inform policies impacting health care and public health across the Palmetto State through evidence-based practices and community consensus building. What an incredible two days at the 2025 KYACHW x SECHWN Summit!

Last week, CCHA team members helped host the Southeast Community Health Worker Network Summit in Lexington, KY with the Kentucky Association of Community Health Workers (KYACHW). CCHA team members presented on topics like CHW advocacy, CHW caseloads, CHW participation in genomics research, and the work of CHWs to advance equity.

We are proud to share more than 400 CHWs and allies from across the Southeast attended. Huge thanks to our partners at KYACHW and the Kentucky Office of Community Health Workers for this opportunity to collaborate. Thank you to everyone who joined, shared, and built momentum with us.
