Prayer for Columbia

Prayer for Columbia Short prayers for our city, for our churches, and for each other.

Good morning, Father God. Thank You for another day. I pray that You will reach down and touch our town, protect her from Satan’s influences.

I believe that he has a stronghold here and I want him thrown out, away from our citizens.

I pray that You will use Your people to show the way!

Let the people of Columbia see the true Christians and how they live and follow their example.

Good morning, Y’all. For those have been following Java with Jesus, I am sure that you have noticed that I haven’t posted anything for awhile.

Well, I have been going through some difficult times with my health. But, God is good, all the time!

Some of you know that we (Diana and I) had the opportunity to take a vacation in Hawaii, and about a month before we were to leave , I began having back spasms (had this condition for about 60 years [yeah, I’m that old], but the trip was already booked and paid for, so we made the decision to go ahead with it.

After flying 8 1/2 hours from Chicago to Honolulu, you can imagine how my back was. I walked with a cane the entire vacation. Oh, well, it was a terrific time in the islands, beautiful place to visit, I would recommend it to everyone!

Of course, there was the flight back! (I have to say during the ordeal, Diana was a saint. She helped me in and out of bed when necessary. I lost a lot of manly dignity.)

THEN….on the Saturday after returning, I began having heart palpitations (now I have had that most of my life, even as a child but it never bothered me and it would always go away.) But this time it came on with a vengeance and was getting worse and I was getting dizzy with it. So off to LGH Emergency Room. An EKG confirmed the palpitations and it was determined that I needed a pacemaker.

So…4 days in the hospital, over a week treating these back spasms (medication and exercises, I’m back to semi-normalcy).

I have to give thanks to the church for helping (while I was away from the church for 4 weeks, they stepped up and did the necessary work that had to be done). I love you all more than you will ever know !!!

But, I believe that, with God’s help and the congregation, I will be back in the pulpit this week.

HALLELUJAH, PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!

Gooooood morning everyone. Had a strange night.

First, I had some chest pains yesterday afternoon. Diana drove me to the ER. Had an EKG, X-ray, took blood twice. And after 4 hours and no results, we came home (there were people who had sat in the waiting room a lot longer than that. One couple had been there over 7 hours), I was told to call my family doctor to get the results of my visit. (They would have the results this morning.)

I have to say, the waiting rooms (4 of them) were full to overflowing. So, I guess they were trying to take the worst first. There were many who seemed to be in much worse shape than I.

Since they had not given me none of the results of my tests and just let me sit there, my guess is that there must not have been too much wrong. By this time, I had no chest pains. 👍

Jesus, let us light the way for others to see Your light. Let us shine brightly in a world of darkness so that others may find their way back to You.
