About a 2 weeks ago I injured my left knee while lightly jogging with my dog to cross the street. Unfortunately the injury was significant and painful, so today had surgery on my left knee to repair my posterior meniscal root.
The bad news is that the studio will be closed the next 6 weeks while I recover because I have to be non-weight bearing, and not having use of my arms (crutches) and left leg is just too difficult to manage in my line of work. The good news is the surgery went well, and my surgeon is optimistic I’ll have a strong recovery.
While having to endure a second significant orthopedic procedure within a year of my ACL repair surgery (on the opposite side) is damn disappointing, the fact that I had excellent rehab for the original procedure with has prepared me for the demands of single leg activity. I am grateful to have spent a year in that program. I am also grateful I have amazing clients who are willing to give me the time and space to recover, as a sole proprietor this is a major setback.
All this to say that life is sometimes hard. There are setbacks, and sometimes it feels like you can’t catch a break. I could be really depressed by this event (and believe me, I’ve had some moments 😖), but I know my body is resilient and strong, and I have an amazing support system. This event might be a setback, but I know I’ll come out the other side stronger than before.
If you’re experiencing a setback, or just a difficult time in general, I see you and I believe in you. You will get through it. To quote Winston Churchill: “When you’re at the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.”
Thank you for your support and patience as I recouperate, the Studio will reopen 9/24/24.
