Got what I wanted for Christmas- a Chiefs win and a day in my pj’s! We spent Christmas Eve with the family, cooking the big meal, watching Christmas movies and exchanging gifts so today was filled with football, leftovers and relaxing. I hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday season.

After being out of the studio for 6 weeks following an unexpected knee surgery, I’m excited to announce I am reopening next Tuesday 9/24/24. I am definitely ready to get back into the studio 😊

It’s going to be a long road back to normal following this surgery. I’ll still be somewhat limited initially, and the studio is still being remodeled after I downsized this summer, so I appreciate your patience in advance.

As many are aware, I am no longer offering group Reformer classes. I do have a limited number of spots for new Physical Therapy and individual Pilates clients. If you are interested, click on my website link in my bio.

About a 2 weeks ago I injured my left knee while lightly jogging with my dog to cross the street. Unfortunately the injury was significant and painful, so today had surgery on my left knee to repair my posterior meniscal root.

The bad news is that the studio will be closed the next 6 weeks while I recover because I have to be non-weight bearing, and not having use of my arms (crutches) and left leg is just too difficult to manage in my line of work. The good news is the surgery went well, and my surgeon is optimistic I’ll have a strong recovery.

While having to endure a second significant orthopedic procedure within a year of my ACL repair surgery (on the opposite side) is damn disappointing, the fact that I had excellent rehab for the original procedure with has prepared me for the demands of single leg activity. I am grateful to have spent a year in that program. I am also grateful I have amazing clients who are willing to give me the time and space to recover, as a sole proprietor this is a major setback.

All this to say that life is sometimes hard. There are setbacks, and sometimes it feels like you can’t catch a break. I could be really depressed by this event (and believe me, I’ve had some moments 😖), but I know my body is resilient and strong, and I have an amazing support system. This event might be a setback, but I know I’ll come out the other side stronger than before.

If you’re experiencing a setback, or just a difficult time in general, I see you and I believe in you. You will get through it. To quote Winston Churchill: “When you’re at the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.”

Thank you for your support and patience as I recouperate, the Studio will reopen 9/24/24.

As Reformer group classes draw to a close today, I want to thank each and every one of you who has trusted me with their Pilates practice. I am beyond grateful for your support of the studio over the past 5 years.

There have been so many good times, and some really difficult times. The pandemic, subsequent shut down and extended period of uncertainty would have made new business survival very difficult if it wasn’t for those of you who showed up; you did so online, in person and in spirit to support me during that tumultuous time even though I was new to you. Over the years we’ve added so many amazing people to our community and I am better for having known each of you.

I am so tremendously proud of the Adaptable Pilates community! I wish you all the best ❤️ This isn’t goodbye, it’s just a change of season. The decision to end group classes is bittersweet, I will miss seeing you guys regularly.

I am still accepting clients for 1-1 Pilates as well as Physical Therapy. While there are limited opportunities for Duets available, there is currently a wait list- reach out if you’d like to be added to the list.

In an unfortunate turn of events, I injured my left leg yesterday pretty badly and spent the night in the ER. I had to cancel classes this morning as Cat couldn’t cover them, but the 5:30 class will be held tonight as scheduled with Cat teaching.

I have a follow up appointment with the same orthopedic doctor who I saw for my right ACL injury tomorrow and will hopefully know more soon.

While injury can never be timed well, it’s particularly frustrating to me since group Reformer classes are ending next Thursday. Fortunately, Cat is available to teach the bulk of the remaining classes if I cannot. She will cover the following classes:

Tomorrow 9a
Sat 9a
Monday 5:30p
Tuesday: all
Wednesday 9a

If I am up to it, I’m hoping to teach some of those classes but for now we are planning for Cat to cover pending my follow up/MRI results. There may be an opportunity the following week to make up for this morning’s cancellations, I’ll keep you all posted.

I appreciate all of you so much and I’m deeply regret of the timing of this injury.
