Approximately one year after the opening, the business was moved to its current location at 300 East 7th Street. The original owner and operator of the funeral home was Vernon Keen (V.K.) Pinkie Ryan. After the birth of their son Ronald V. Ryan it became V.K. Ryan & Son Funeral Home. nald V. After the death of Mrs. Pinkie Ryan on July 6, 1987 the funeral home was owned and operated by Mr. Ronald V. Ryan and his wife Mrs. Bernice L. The V.K. Ryan & Son Funeral Home has been more than a funeral home to the residents of Maury County and the surrounding communities. This long established funeral home has served many counties around Maury County with a mission-“Institution of Sincere Services”. Service to others is a key part of the operation of V.K. As far back as the 1945 when the Race Riot occurred in Columbia, Tennessee, the funeral home played a part in helping protect the African American Citizens of Columbia and years before. Ryan served Columbia public servant for two terms elected to the Columbia City Council from 1984-1991. Community service and support of community initiatives is an integral part of their funeral home. You will find that Ronald and Bernice have supported the Maury County NAACP, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebrations, the H.O. Porter Scholarship Association, The Elks, High School Senior Recognition Scholarship program, AAUW basketball participants, The American Legion Boys and Girls State, Pop Warner Football, Little League Baseball at Fairview Park and many other chartable organizations to numerous to list.
