Elsa 🩵
“Sweet, sweet Elsa. She captured our hearts when she was 6 months old at the Muskingum County Animal Shelter. We were searching for an “older” dog to fill a void in our heart after losing our soul dog, Heidi, in 2017, and when we rounded the corner and saw this ball of white fluff…we knew then that SHE was the one! We didn’t go in looking for a puppy but we left that day on a new adventure.
An adventure we could have never predicted or expected to go and end the way it did. We had no breed experience with Great Pyrenees but boy oh boy did Elsa train us well! She had all the common traits of GPs… independent thinker, lover of cold weather, giver of the “Pyr Paw”, double dew claws, couch potato, escapee, and gentle, gentle giant. The only GP quality she did not possess was “livestock guardian”. She was a guardian of nothing. She was everyone’s friend. The strangest stranger could have walked in our house and she would have greeted them with a warm hug. Such a sweet girl.
Over the years, Elsa affectionately earned the nicknames of Elle, Elsa Belsa, Elsa Faith, Faith, IDGAF, PITA, Fluffy, Egg Thief, and probably many more.
Other than being sweet, Elsa’s other most prominent trait was eating. Everything. EVERYTHING. Over the years, we kept a running list of “Things Elsa’s Eaten”. (Check the FULL list on her beautiful Tribute!)
Every day with our pets is a blessing, as with any other member of the family. Elsa was only 8 years old. She had been battling seizures the last couple of years, but they had been fairly well-controlled with medication. Our guess is that’s what happened this morning. No one was home to witness, but it appeared that that’s maybe what happened and there was no evidence of suffering. We pray she went quick and was in the arms of Jesus before she had a chance to feel pain or fear. Elsa baby, we love you and we will miss you so much! 🌈🐶🩵” — Remembered by The Gardner Family
