Facing Food Insecurity? You’re Not Alone.

With recent changes to SNAP benefits, many individuals and families in our community are facing new challenges — including how to afford groceries and meet basic needs.

At Eating and Behavioral Health Associates, we understand how closely food access and mental health are connected. Food insecurity can increase stress, anxiety, and disordered eating behaviors. We want to help.

That’s why we created a resource hub. On this page, you’ll find:

You’re invited to the next Quarterly Columbus Eating Disorder Roundtable on Tuesday, December 2nd, featuring a presentation by Tammy Beasley, MS, RD, CEDS-C. This session will explore disordered eating as a relational trauma issue and teaches how to apply trauma-informed healing—regulate, relate, reason—and integrate trauma-informed nutrition therapy within a collaborative care team.

📅 Tuesday, December 2nd | 5:30–7:30 PM📍 Eating and Behavioral Health Associates 5202 Bethel Reed Park, Suite 180, Columbus, OH 43220

Connect with colleagues over refreshments and hors d’oeuvres and earn 2 CE credits.

🎯 This educational event is intended for registered dietitians and behavioral health professionals, including Psychologists, Social Workers, Counselors, and MFT’s.

As part of this event, we’re also hosting a food drive to support members of our community facing food insecurity. We encourage attendees to bring non-perishable food items or pantry staples to contribute. Together, we can make a meaningful impact while learning and connecting as a professional community.

Diabetes and body image are deeply connected — yet often overlooked. Managing blood sugar can sometimes blur into managing food, weight, and control, which can heighten the risk of disordered eating.

Our office manager at Eating and Behavioral Health Associates shares a deeply personal reflection on how Type 1 diabetes changes the relationship with eating, body image, and self-care. Every meal becomes a calculation, a balancing act, and a reminder of the incredible resilience it takes to do the work of an organ every single day.

This , we honor the unseen emotional and mental labor behind every blood sugar check, every meal, and every calculation. 💙

Burnout and stress aren’t the same thing, and treating them like they are can hold you back from the recovery you truly need.

Stress is your body’s natural response to pressure—short-term and often manageable.

Burnout is what happens when that stress doesn’t stop. It’s chronic, overwhelming, and leaves you feeling depleted mentally and physically.

Understanding the difference helps you get the right kind of support. You deserve space to recover, recharge, and feel like yourself again.

Have you ever mistaken burnout for stress? Let’s talk about it.  💬

ADHD and eating disorders often overlap in ways that can make recovery more complex. Impulsivity, difficulty regulating appetite, and challenges managing emotional responses to food can put individuals with ADHD at a higher risk of developing eating disorders.

This year’s theme, “Awareness is Key,” reminds us of the importance of education and understanding in breaking stigma.

With early diagnosis and a treatment plan that supports both ADHD and eating disorder symptoms, healing is possible. 💙

As September and National Recovery Month come to a close, let’s remember that recovery awareness doesn’t stop here.

Recovery isn’t limited to a single month, but it’s a lifelong journey that deserves our continued attention, compassion, and support every day of the year.

Together, we can build a more understanding and supportive community for those on the path to recovery. By spreading truth, listening with empathy, and offering strong support, we can help break the stigma that still surrounds addiction and recovery.

Every body deserves care without stigma.

This year’s theme, “Healing Without Harm: Ending Weight Stigma in Healthcare,” is a reminder that too often, patients face bias in medical settings. Weight stigma is one of the most overlooked barriers to quality healthcare. When symptoms are dismissed because of someone’s size, diagnoses are delayed or missed.

At EBHA, we believe every body deserves dignity, respect, and compassionate care. Weight stigma not only fuels disordered eating but it also prevents people from seeking the care they need and deserve.

It’s time to take a stand. By raising awareness and demanding change, we can build a healthcare system that heals without harm.

💙Want to be part of the change? Follow for resources, education, and community all week long.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 5th Columbus Eating Disorder Roundtable!

What began just one year ago has grown into a collaborative space for providers to share knowledge and strengthen the field of eating disorder care. Over the past year, your support has helped this event become a true place of learning, connection, and collaboration.

This quarter, we were honored to welcome Dr. Ovidio Bermudez, who presented on Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) and shared clinical insights that continue to expand awareness and deepen understanding across the field.

We are also grateful for our Roundtable partners: Aster Springs, Toledo Center for Eating Disorders, The Emily Program, and Eating Recovery Center. A special thank you to ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders at Denver Health for joining us this month, and to Steven’s Catering for providing such wonderful food.

We are proud of how far the Roundtable has come in just one year and look forward to carrying this momentum forward. See you at our next Roundtable in December! 💙
