to all those who feel like you’re running behind:

you are RIGHT 👏🏻 ON 👏🏻 TIME 👏🏻

There’s no “right” timeline on how to live your life. Believe me, last year at this time - buying my first house on my very own was definitely not the original plan 😅

Where you are right now? Take what you can from this moment. Breathe it in, enjoy it, and live in the PRESENT.

It’s not about how far you have to go, it’s about how you can stay persistent and present in each moment

It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and always think you’ll just “tough through it”

But what if you were more patient? Focused on building habits SUSTAINABLY more than QUICKLY?

Take it from someone who has been practicing exactly that… it’s absolutely worth it.

So if you’re ready to take that jump, just JUMP.

And if you’re ready to slow down? hit the brakes!

You know you best. But don’t let you hold yourself back 👊🏻

Hello dear friends, I know it’s been awhile.

This year hasn’t looked anything like I planned. Quite honestly the start of this year left me in severe burnout and I’ve learned there’s not a timeline (or deadline) that allows you to just bounce back from it.

So I’ve been using this time to bring all aspects of wellness back in to my life. The pieces I didn’t have time for when I was in school and working 3-4 jobs at a time. (Crazy!)

I’ve been traveling (Iceland was incredible!), spending much needed time with my family and strengthening relationships. And I’ve been learning how to stop ignoring all the amazing skills and hobbies in my life that I enjoy so much that have taken a backseat for my ambition.

So if I had any piece of advice to share today, take it from the mysterious note leaver that’s left these notes recently at my gym. Notes written in this same handwriting (they need to give me cursive tips for reals) have been popping up randomly in the locker room and each time it’s made me pause… so I wanted to share with you too.

Today: I’m proud of you for never giving up.

Advice for moving forward: your life is a marathon, and growth can happen SLOWLY, even if you cannot see it. Let’s keep moving forward together… because I am thrilled to see what happens next. ❤️

you can’t create change without friction ‼️

WHEW. I heard this saying about two weeks ago, and it blew. my. mind. 🤯

Today I drove back by my alma mater and stopped on a whim to take this picture. I’m not sure why I stopped, but I’m glad I did.

Maybe I was feeling a little nostalgic, sure. Or maybe I was completely jet lagged from vacation. But mostly I was thinking about who I was 1, 3 and 8 years ago right here at this spot.

As much nostalgia as there was, I realized all those times of friction and RESISTANCE were just a signal to how much my life was changing. How much I was changing as a result, too.

So if you’re feeling that resistance, that friction, know that it’s NORMAL. Change is uncomfortable and new and (a lot of times) terrifying. Change requires you to adapt new behaviors and work through old beliefs. And growth is anything BUT 100% linear.

So don’t be surprised when you face friction throughout your journey. Motion towards your goals while ditching old beliefs and adapting new, confident behaviors is all part of the process.

Keep moving, keep pushing, and remember that you are exactly where you need to be right now, but it’s up to you where you can go next. 🙌🏻

I wish I had exciting news for you today.

I wish I had more content for you. I wish my new website was done. I wish I was the entrepreneur my college sophomore self thought I could be.

But sometimes life hits you again, again, and again. 🤬

Life will challenge your belief system and your confidence. Life will challenge the hell out of you to decide whether you really want it and make you question who you are.

And you’ll have to get creative. And resilient. And tell it to back the F off.

So don’t get discouraged on the setbacks. The setbacks are making you practice how to take the NEXT step.

Because that’s all that really matters. What your NEXT step is.

So if your Q1 of 2022 was anything of a s**t show like mine (COVID, furnace goes out, garage door breaks, need a new car, inspection fails) and you decide to keep getting back up?

PUSH through it. It will PAY 👏🏻 OFF 👏🏻

Along the way? smile, have a laugh, maybe even have a beer. Because it’s all about the journey, and YOU are worth all of it.

Happy National Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) Day! 🥳

One of my favorite days of March (besides my birthday obv) is celebrating this profession and the wonderful individuals who make it all happen. 🤩

I can’t believe it’s been almost 4 years since this day and I can remember the seconds of absolute terror while I waited for the screen to populate my board results. 😰

I grew up wanting to be a doctor, but personal experience and my love of wellness led me to the perfect fit of RDN - a profession vast in knowledge and often unrecognized for its crucial impact within an individual’s lifespan.

And then I started crafting into entrepreneurship and have grown as an RDN in crazy leaps and bounds. This journey hasn’t been easy (if 2022 for me hasn’t been testimony to that already) but it’s sure as hell been worth it. 🙌🏻

To my fellow RD/RDNs, keep fighting the good fight, always keep learning, and never give up your dreams.

And to you, my wellness warriors, keep on FUELING! 🍎

Let’s talk ✨ EXPECTATIONS ✨

Have you ever made a goal and expected it to happen overnight? Maybe in the next 3 months and then it… Just didn’t happen??

And then we find ourselves still thinking about how we failed at that about six months later.

But when we start focusing on failures as feedback we can LEARN and APPLY those failures in new ways over new days

And THAT is when the 💡 turns on

Because when we use failures as feedback we accept it happened and we continue moving forward. And when we decide we aren’t defined by our failures and release expectations?⚡️ we have the potential to create and accomplish SO. MUCH. MORE. 🔥

bones or no bones?? 🦴🐶

took Samson for a walk this evening and a neighbor happened to snag this pic when Samson decided today was simply NOT the day for a walk

And quite frankly, I’ve been feeling a lot of no bones days lately too. So what happens when you just don’t feel like it??

You follow your WHY not your MOOD. Because moods are indecisive. And when we leave ourselves open to options, then indecision happens!

So next time you’re feeling a no bones day try rerouting your thoughts to these instead:
➡️ I don’t need to decide or debate or think about this, it’s already decided.
➡️ Past me said I would do it, I know I can do it, and future me will thank me, so let’s do it
➡️ Once I start, I’ll be glad I did and feel (XYZ) that I did. I don’t have to be perfect, but I do have to take just this first step.

What’s your favorite way to stay motivated on a bones day??

1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY! 🎉

last week I celebrated my 1st year of Salt & Strength

and if I can have a moment of your time today to share what I’ve learned…it would take longer than a moment.

I’m so proud of something that’s come from what was a “what if” to something that became a tangible, real, ever evolving thing and has been able to impact so many.

The past couple months I’ve been focusing on the seven sides of rest. Something I’ve pushed off for awhile…and it’s been so overwhelming to process how much I’ve changed and grown this past year.

And so I’m taking this time… knowing that I’ll return with different ideas, more passion, and more confidence to continue shaping this world. Time so that I can show up authentic and true to my knowledge and vision.

And I’ll never be able to express my gratitude for each and every person that has influenced this past year for me. ❤️

So be bold. Dare greatly. And don’t be the only person holding you back from YOU.

Hugs, Lindsay

sometimes change can feel like climbing a mountain

And yes, even though I climbed around a mountain this weekend- I’ll be the first to tell you I am NOT good with change

I’ll drag my feet, cry, worry and I even used to have panic attacks

But then I started asking for help

It wasn’t easy admitting I didn’t know what to do or how to be better. And it absolutely wasn’t easy to realize the support and accountability I needed couldn’t come from myself at the time.

But that’s life. We are here to help and serve one another.

And sometimes it’s taking a leap of faith knowing you have a LONG climb ahead of you.

But the view at the top? It’s exhilarating, incredible, and oh such a proud feeling.

So what’s your mountain lately?

And if I can help make your climb any easier, just send me a message 💙 I’d love to connect and see how I can support each you

are you taking care of your brain??

It’s been awhile for me to be active here with you all, but I’ve been resting.

Resting is so important, and so is being HUMAN

because we aren’t superhuman, but we are INCREDIBLE AND WORTHY JUST FOR BEING HUMAN

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and so I wanted to share something super vulnerable in hopes that this may help someone someday

ASK FOR HELP

Because mental health isn’t just your brain.

It spills into your thoughts, your emotions, and your everyday life

January 2021 I started seeing a mental health coach and thought I’d “give it a try” and I’m so grateful for that has helped me see I’m a multifaceted, successful being worthy of happiness in whatever form that manifests as

You see, I deal with anxiety. It’s something that I’ve always just accepted as part of me and my desire to always be the best and be so driven. But that’s not acceptable and it certainly doesn’t have to steal my joy.

And it’s changed my perspective and helped me truly realize that I must take care of ME to show up for all of YOU

And I’m healthier, happier, and incredibly grateful to continue sharing my life, my journey, and of course all the knowledge, insight, and skills I have in hopes I can make your life a little brighter, easier, and healthier too

So take the leap to prioritize YOU this month. You won’t regret it, I promise.

what’s the healthier choice?

ahh the word “healthy”. So many definitions, so little clarity!!

Here’s an example of how we can practice some food freedom and break those “good” and “bad” labels

Here rice.

Rice! So many different kinds but more than likely you’ve heard white rice v. brown rice.

The ultimatum? It depends!!

I know, I know... you were hoping for a straightforward answer.

But the thing real experts will tell you more often than not? IT DEPENDS!

Both white and brown rice can have great benefits for your diet and lifestyle. Regardless of your decision and why... here’s two things to always keep in mind:

☝️ portion size!
✌️what will satisfy your hunger

you see - if white rice sounds bomb with that chipotle, than sure! Have the white rice! But have it in an appropriate portion size. (1/3 cup of rice = 1 serving of rice as a grain normally!) additionally, having that 1 serving of white rice may be exactly what will satisfy your hunger... whereas brown rice may seem boring AF to you.

or maybe your training hard or looking for more fiber, then brown rice would be ideal!

either way, let’s ditch the labels. Shall we??

what other foods do you commonly wonder what would be the better choice?? Let me know and let’s discuss!! 👇🏻
