Adjustments are a natural part of prosthetic care. Over time, your limb may change shape or volume, especially within the first year of use. Routine visits allow your prosthetist to refine the fit, alignment, or suspension system for optimal comfort and function.

Your prosthesis should work with you — not against you.

If you are experiencing any pain, contact your prosthetist right away.

The Symphonie Aqua System uses hydrostatic pressure to capture an exact mold of the limb—replicating how it behaves under real weight-bearing conditions.

The result? A socket that fits like it should from day one—precise, comfortable, and personalized for every patient.

Is it normal to feel phantom limb pain?

Yes! After an amputation, many people still feel sensations where their limb used to be. It might feel like tingling, itching, burning, or even pressure — even though the limb is no longer there. These sensations are common and very real. The good news: there are treatments and strategies to help manage phantom pain, and you don’t have to go through it alone. 💙

The pin lock suspension system is one of the most common ways to secure a prosthetic limb to the residual limb. Here’s how it works:

How It Works
• A gel liner (usually silicone, urethane, or gel) is worn over the residual limb.
• At the end of the liner, there is a metal pin.
• When the user slides their limb into the prosthetic socket, the pin fits into a locking mechanism at the bottom of the socket.
• As the pin clicks down, it securely holds the limb in place.
• To remove the prosthesis, the user presses a release button on the socket to disengage the lock.

Benefits
•Secure fit: Provides a strong connection, which helps reduce pistoning (up-and-down movement) of the limb inside the socket.
• Ease of use: Simple to put on and take off—often just “click and go.”
• Confidence: The audible clicking sound gives users reassurance that their prosthesis is locked in place.

Adjusting to life with a prosthesis isn’t always easy, but each new step brings strength, confidence, and progress. You don’t have to be perfect—you just have to keep going, one day at a time. We’re here with you on the journey.

Yes, most people will need more than one prosthesis over the course of their journey. After surgery, your limb continues to heal and change in size, especially during the first year. Because of this, you’ll usually start with a temporary or training prosthesis that allows you to begin walking and regaining independence while your limb is still stabilizing. Once the swelling decreases, and your limb shape becomes more consistent, we will fit you with a more permanent prosthesis designed for long-term use.

Even after that, it is normal to need adjustments or new sockets overtime. Factors like activity level, weight changes, or natural body changes can affect how you’re prosthesis fits and feels. Our team will be with you every step of the way to monitor these changes, make modifications, and ensure you always have a prosthesis that supports your comfort, mobility and goals.
