Reflecting on her time here, Jess shared, “I just want to make the world a better place, and we have to start with the kids. I really enjoy watching them grow and hearing their positive feedback—it makes me feel ten times better.”

When asked what trauma‑informed care means to her, Jess explained, “It’s about using what I’ve learned to help residents work through their trauma in the ways we’re taught. Receiving this award means a lot. It’s special to know my colleagues trust me and see the work I do with the kids. Meet Nick, Lead Mental Health Technician on the 200 Unit!

Nick has been a part of our community for nearly three years and has fostered an atmosphere of empathy, support and connection. When reflecting on his experience, he shared: “I really look forward to being a part of the team. Being a lead tech means being there for the kids and having them see me as a support figure in their lives — and that’s a really cool thing.”

Nick went on to describe how his “why” has grown during his time here: “When I first started, I didn’t know what my ‘why’ was. But over the years, I’ve realized that I want to be that person for someone — the person I didn’t feel like I had at their age. That’s why I stay in this field, even on the tough days. It’s all worth it when the kids go home with the skills they’ve learned.”

Thank you, Nick, for the care, understanding and positivity you bring to our community every day. We’re grateful for everything you do!

Join us in congratulating Caitlyn on being named our Trauma‑Informed Care Champion for February 2026!

Caitlyn is one of our program therapists and brings more than ten years of experience supporting our community. When asked about her “why” for entering the mental health field, she shared:

“I just want to leave the world a little better than when I found it. Working with kids—they are our future—so helping them develop into safe, kind and productive members of society, and getting to be even a tiny part of that, is pretty cool.”

She also reflected on the importance of a trauma‑informed approach:

“We can’t heal if we don't identify what’s holding us back. It takes a village, so I want to make sure our village understands what the kiddos are going through so we can keep moving toward healing, progress, and safety.”

Thank you, Caitlyn, for your dedication to creating an environment rooted in safety, trust and compassion. We are grateful for the incredible impact you make every day.

Join us in congratulating Michael on his promotion to Lead Mental Health Technician (LMHT)!

Michael has been a dedicated employee at the facility for over six years, and we are thankful to have him on our team. When reflecting on this opportunity, Michael shared, "It's an opportunity to help things go in the direction we need them to and to keep them there." Michael also spoke about growth in a way that truly reflects our culture: "Just because someone may be new doesn't mean they do not know things or are not capable. It just means they are inexperienced or untested. I think providing an environment for that is essential."

We look forward to the direction and mentorship Michael will bring into this role. Congratulations!
