Join us this week in congratulating Durrell on receiving the Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) Champion award for January 2026. Durrell is one of our lead mental health technicians who continuously strives to create an environment where healing can happen by using a trauma informed approach.

When awarded January's TIC Champion, Durrell said, "Receiving this award means everything to me. Having a trauma-informed approach helps bring everyone closer together, it helps the milieu run smoothly and creates a space where everyone can get along."

Thank you, Durrell, for leading with compassion and empathy.

Mindfulness can be a great tool to calm the mind and see things clearly. This week, our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Therapist, Connie, is teaching this to our patients while utilizing art. Just like how a jar full of glitter isn't easy to see through, our minds can be difficult to focus through when overflowing with thoughts. However, when you take the time and practice mindfulness skills like deep breathing, the glitter, or our overflowing mind, will then settle to allow us to move forward more clearly.

Thank you, Connie, for your creative approach to teach new skills!

Last week, a few members of our team worked to create a new mural for the facility called Healing Hands. This mural was inspired by the journey our residents take towards healing; they show tremendous strength and courage as they work through trauma and personal hardships.

We would like to keep this mural growing, so as a part of the residents' graduation from our program, they will get to leave their mark, their handprint, alongside the mural to represent the hard work and determination used in their healing journey.

Join us this week in congratulating Michael on receiving the Rounding Champion award for January 2026. Michael is one of our third shift mental health technicians, and he works tirelessly to ensure our residents are safe.

When asked about resident safety and how rounding plays a part of that, Michael said, "We never know what someone is going through, and sometimes when it is dark outside, it is dark inside. Doing proper rounding means that we've made sure that our residents are safe."

Thank you, Michael, for your years of service ensuring safety within our facility.

Join us in congratulating Alexa on receiving the Leading By Example award for Janaury 2026! Alexa is one of our lead mental health technicians and has had a tremendous positive impact within our facility.

Here's what Alexa had to say upon receiving this award, "I feel honored that my peers know they can look to me for guidance. I work with a lot of great people and am constantly supported by them."

Alexa adds, "The most rewarding part of this job is being able to see a resident on their first and last day, at Columbus Behavioral Center, and seeing all of the progress that they've made. I want to continue to show up and make a difference in their lives."

Thank you, Alexa, for all of your hard work and dedication to our team.
