Flu season is unfortunately still in full swing and we are seeing a lot of cases of Flu A at our practice.

Flu is highly contagious and can cause mild to severe illness. Flu symptoms usually come on suddenly.

😷 People who have flu often feel some or all of these signs and symptoms:

•fever* or feeling feverish/chills
•cough
•sore throat
•runny or stuffy nose
•muscle or body aches
•headaches
•fatigue (tiredness)
•some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults.

🌟 How to help stop the virus from spreading:

•Getting a flu vaccine is the most important.
•Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
•Stay home from school or work when fever of 101° or higher is present (recommended to stay home for 5 days after flu diagnosis)
•Cover coughs and sneezes.
•Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
•Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Germs spread this way.

🩹 Treatment for flu:

• Treat fever with OTC medication such as Tylenol or Motrin
• Get plenty of rest
• Encourage drinking plenty of fluids to keep child hydrated
• Use OTC cough and decongestants medications that are age-appropriate.

📢 Did you know your child can receive their Flu vaccine through June?

Call and schedule an appointment for the flu vaccine!
