Columbus-NE PRIDE

Columbus-NE PRIDE LGBTQIA+ support and community activities in and around Columbus, NE.

As I sit here and ponder a life lost far too young and the far reaching effects that will have, I find myself (and others) stuck in the "what if's", "if only's", and "why's". What if they, or this person, or this agency had done something differently? What if they, or the school, or a responding agency had more information, more training, or more resources?
The fact is that the answers to those questions cannot bring that young life back or take away the hurt being felt.
I encourage you to switch from reflection to action. Get involved! Get involved with your family, your loved ones, your school, your church, and your community. Get involved TODAY!
While we may not be able to tun back time and save that young life, we CAN save others. As the saying goes, "it takes a village". We need the entire village!
Every person has different strengths to offer and there is a wide variety of ways to get involved. One way is to join the efforts of the newly formed local su***de prevention coalition, Hopeful Horizons. It is the hope that Hopeful Horizons will become a leader in su***de awareness and prevention and mental health improvement of the community. There are so many great resources and efforts already happening in the community and there are so many other things that still need to be implemented. Hopeful Horizons needs more hands on deck now. More hands to help bolster the current efforts and more hands to carry out work that still needs to be done.
I invite you to join our efforts. Find out more on the Hopeful Horizons page. Join our next meeting (Thursday 2/8 at ESU7 starting at Noon). Reach out to Hopeful Horizons at hopefulhorizonne@gmail.com and ask to become involved or ask to be kept informed of the agencies activities.

I also want to highlight some resources available:
-988 is the national smcrisis and su***de hotline. Help is available 24/7 and no crisis is too small.
-Crisis Response is a local crisis response hotline and response agency. Local trained responders are available 24/7.
- Any community agency. If you Reach out for help, these agencies can and will help get you connected to the help you need.
Please tell your loved ones how important they are to you, how much you love them and how important they are!
