Columbus, Ohio — The State of Ohio proudly recognizes Aug. 15 as Emergency Management Recognition Day to honor the dedicated professionals who work behind the scenes year-round to protect communities before, during, and after emergencies and disasters.

For the COTS 36-county region, Jodi, Kelsey, Arin, and Sierra serve in the emergency management (EM) role.

Please take a moment to recognize your organization's EM team.

Emergency managers play a critical role in coordinating preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts for crisis situations and disasters. From developing emergency plans, managing resources, and releasing public information to providing resources such as disaster assistance and staffing Emergency Operations Centers, their work helps save lives and reduce the impact of disasters on individuals, communities, infrastructure, and the environment.

HOSPITAL PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM FUNDING AT RISK

Learn more and ACT Today! https://columbusmedicalassociation.org/blogpost/2163219/510783/Hospital-Preparedness-Program--Funding-at-risk

CMA’s affiliate, COTS, needs your help! President Trump’s proposed federal budget eliminates funding for the Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP), the primary source of funding for health care preparedness and response. COTS coordinates emergency preparedness and response for 36 of Ohio's 88 counties for the Ohio Department of Health, which administers the HPP in Ohio. The complete elimination of this program is an existential threat to the safety of all Ohioans. In addition, the proposed federal budget significantly decreases funding for public health coordination and emergency management.
