It is with faith in God's eternal love that we share the passing of Sister Barbara Hahl, CSC, one of Mount Carmel’s most beloved lights. Over her remarkable 39 years with us, she played a pivotal role in countless major projects and held numerous leadership roles. But it’s not the titles or accomplishments we’ll remember most—it’s her unwavering love for Mount Carmel’s colleagues, her tireless dedication to our mission of compassion, and the deep connections she fostered throughout Central Ohio.

As a Sister of the Holy Cross, Sr. Barbara devoted her life to serving Jesus by serving others, inspiring all of us to live lives of service and compassion. Her legacy will continue to shine in the lives she touched. May God’s face shine upon her and may she rest in peace.

“Before I decided to pursue nursing, I was a medical assistant at Nationwide Children's Hospital in the Center for Family Safety and Healing, and I was hooked almost immediately. However, due to my scope of practice as a medical assistant, I could only help with a few clinical skills and procedures. I knew I wanted to provide more for my patients and that nursing would allow me to do just that. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of longtime Mount Carmel College of Nursing employee Lois Stevens.

Lois worked at Mount Carmel School (and later, College) of Nursing for 40 years as the receptionist. She is remembered as a smiling face, warm welcoming presence, and her significant influence on students.

Congratulations to Tauana McDonald for being named the new President and CEO of Mount Carmel Health System!

We are thrilled to announce Tauana McDonald, FACHE, as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Mount Carmel Health System, effective July 1, 2024. Tauana brings a wealth of experience to the role, having joined Trinity Health in 2003 and has served in numerous leadership positions, most recently as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Mount Carmel Grove City.

Tauana is the first African American woman to lead as president and CEO in the 138-year history of Mount Carmel, marking a historic milestone for health leadership in Central Ohio. Her dedication to excellence and a values-driven approach have been instrumental in transforming our health system, especially during critical times of stabilization and growth.

As we welcome Tauana into her new role, we look forward to her continued leadership and commitment to advancing our mission and serving the Central Ohio community. Join us in congratulating Tauana on this well-deserved appointment!
