It’s the question that many of you cringe at when you visit the dentist… 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 π’šπ’π’– 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 π’‡π’π’π’”π’”π’Šπ’π’ˆ π’“π’†π’ˆπ’–π’π’‚π’“π’π’š?

Flossing daily helps to remove food that’s stuck in crevices or between the teeth, and also plaque, which can severely impact your oral health, if persistent.

Even though we’ve been brushing and flossing our teeth for years and years, many of us are surprised to learn that we’re not doing it properly.

Flossing Guide:

🦷 Pull 18 to 24 inches of dental floss from the floss dispenser.

🦷 Wrap the ends of the floss around your index and middle fingers.

🦷 Hold the floss tightly around each tooth in a C shape; move the floss back and forth in a push-pull motion and up and down against the side of each tooth.

🦷 Floss every day – usually at bedtime.

Meet Dr. Williams!

Dr. Jay Williams was born and raised in Sylvester and attended Worth County High School.

He completed his undergraduate studies at Abraham Baldwin College in Tifton, and the University of Georgia in Athens. He then graduated in 1994 from the Medical College of Georgia with a DMD degree. It was there that he received a quintessence award for restorative dentistry.

After graduation, Dr. Williams went to work for Dr. Mike Carr in Donalsonville, and in 1995 he joined Dr. Cecil Myers in Americus while building a practice in Lee County. That practice which started in April 1995 has now evolved into Dental Partners of Southwest Georgia.

Fun Fact: Dr. Williams was the Boy Scouts of America founding charter organization representative for Troop 1, Crew 1, and Pack 1. He also received a Health Care Provider of the Year award from ABAC in 2010.

He is a golfing fanatic and loves to hunt anything that flies or swims. He likes to say that he spends all his time watching his kids grow up.

Dr. Williams lives in Albany with his wife Lynn Connor Williams of Sylvania. They have three children: Maci, Matt and Kate.

Raise your hand if you 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒔?! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

The American Dental Association recommends cleaning between your teeth daily with an interdental cleaner (like floss). Cleaning between your teeth may help prevent cavities and gum disease. Cleaning between your teeth helps remove a sticky film called plaque.

Plaque contains bacteria that feeds on leftover food or sugar in your mouth. When that happens, it releases an acid that can eat away at the outer shell of your teeth and cause cavities.

So grab your floss and get to work on those teeth! You’ll make us happy at your next visit! 🦷πŸͺ₯
