🩺 Twenty years of GI and nutrition support expertise — in one session.

Meet Kristen Roberts, PhD, RDN — clinician-researcher with joint appointments in OSU's Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, with two decades of clinical experience in medical nutrition therapy for GI, pancreatology, and nutrition support — speaking at the 105th Annual OAND Conference.

In The Micronutrient Maze: Navigating Clinical Challenges with Care, Kristen digs into how inflammation and hepatic dysfunction distort serum micronutrient levels, how to weigh benefit versus cost when initiating replacement therapy, and how to build a monitoring strategy that keeps patients safe.

Real case examples. Real clinical decision-making. Exactly the kind of session that makes a conference worth attending.

🔬 Serum levels are in. Now what?

Meet Holly Estes-Doetsch, DCN, RDN, LD — Assistant Professor in the Master of Dietetics and Nutrition program at The Ohio State University and co-editor and author of the Pocket Guide to Micronutrient Management (Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, 2024) — speaking at the 105th Annual OAND Conference.

Her session, The Micronutrient Maze: Navigating Clinical Challenges with Care, tackles one of the most nuanced challenges in clinical dietetics: how do you interpret that lab value accurately, design a replacement regimen that's therapeutic without overtreating, and know when to follow up?

Holly has been presenting on micronutrient assessment locally and nationally since 2006, and she brings both the clinical depth and the practical case-based approach that makes complex content immediately usable at the bedside.

❗️Ohio Department of Health Seeks Registered Dietitian for CMH Program Medical Advisory Council❗️

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) is seeking a Registered Dietitian to serve on the Medical Advisory Council of the agency’s Complex Medical Help program (CMH – formerly called Children with Medical Handicaps). The CMH program serves some of the most vulnerable children, youth, and young adults in Ohio with complex healthcare needs and their families, linking eligible patients to a network of qualified providers and helping their families obtain payment for needed services, including serving as the payor of last resort for eligible clients. More information about the CMH program is available on ODH’s website.

A CMH program Medical Advisory Council was created in state law (Ohio Revised Code Section 3701.025) to “advise (ODH) regarding the administration of the program for children and youth with special health care needs, the suitable quality of medical practice for providers, and the requirements for medical eligibility for the program.” Medical Advisory Council members are appointed by the ODH Director and must be licensed physicians, surgeons, dentists, and other professionals in the field of medicine, representative of the various disciplines involved in the treatment of children and youth with special health care needs, and representative of the treatment facilities involved, such as hospitals, private and public health clinics, and private physicians' offices.

The Medical Advisory Council meets at least annually with additional meetings called as needed at the discretion of the Chair. The Council has the option to meet virtually or in-person. Members serve on the Council without compensation.

Registered Dietitians who are interested in being considered for appointment to the CMH program Medical Advisory Council should submit their CV and a short statement explaining their interest to BCMH@odh.ohio.gov. Questions can be submitted to the same email address.
