Hospice medical social workers are unsung heroes in the healthcare field, providing invaluable support to patients and their families during some of life's most challenging moments. These dedicated professionals offer emotional guidance, facilitate difficult conversations about end-of-life planning, and connect individuals with essential resources like grief counseling and financial assistance. Their compassion knows no bounds as they navigate complex family dynamics and help individuals find peace and comfort in their final days. In addition to their critical emotional support, hospice social workers also play a crucial role in advocating for patients' rights, ensuring their needs are met with dignity and respect. The impact of hospice medical social workers cannot be overstated, as they bring light to even the darkest of circumstances with their unwavering care and dedication. They truly deserve all the appreciation in the world for the incredible work they do every day.

Giving big thanks to our own social workers, Tamsyn Boeke and Shannon Hatton!

Did you know Military veterans make exceptional hospice volunteers due to their unique skill set and perspective?

Having served in high stress environments, veterans are adept at handling difficult emotional situations with grace and composure. Their training in teamwork, discipline, and crisis management equips them to provide reliable support to both patients and families during end of life care. Their understanding of sacrifice and loss can also help empathize with terminally ill patients on a profound level. By utilizing the valuable experience of veterans, we can enhance the quality of care provided to those facing the end of life.

If you are a veteran or are currently serving in the Military and want to make a big difference in the life of a hospice veteran, please call us today!

Amy Richardson

Amy is one of our RN’s and most recently accepted a new position with us as a Patient Care Manager

Amy has been spreading compassionate care with us for 3 years now!

Amy enjoys spending time with patients and their families. She loves being their support system during one of the hardest days they may face.

Her most memorable experience with hospice is being recognized as among the best hospice nurses in the Golden Triangle.

When she is not providing care to her patients she can be found spending time with her kids and watching all of their sports. She loves family time, traveling, spending time with friends and camping in the lake.

Amy’s favorite food is pizza and Christmas tree cakes. She also hopes to go on one day and be an educator to future nurses.

The one thing Amy cannot live without is her phone! 😂

Amy wants all of the Baptist Hospice families to know that each and every patient I have had the privilege to care for holds a special place in my heart. When they pass they all take a piece of my heart with them. I truly love all of my patients and I believe 100% this is what God called me to do. Hospice isn’t easy but it truly fulfills me in every aspect. We are all just walking each other home. Let me hold your hand, someday someone will be holding mine. Hospice nurses are just nurses working in heavens waiting room.

Amy we truly appreciate the compassionate care you provide for our patients. Thank you for shining bright in the true hospice values!

At Baptist Hospice, we want to take a moment to honor and recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This important observance serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience and strength of those affected by breast cancer, as well as the ongoing efforts to raise awareness and support research for this disease.

Throughout this month, we encourage everyone to come together in solidarity, whether by sharing stories, educating ourselves and others, or participating in local events. Together, we can foster a community of compassion and hope, supporting those who are fighting this battle and remembering those we have lost. Let's make a difference together and shine a light on the importance of early detection and support for those impacted by breast cancer.
