Meet Heather!

Heather loves implementing best practice methods based on the Science of Reading and watching learners gain confidence and grow as readers and learners. Teaching is her true passion, and she is dedicated to helping each learner succeed.

"I have enjoyed building relationships with families and helping to support their learner so they can experience confidence in learning. It has been a treasure to see some faces light up when they are having fun with a learning game or when they master a skill we have been working on."

As a licensed Intervention Specialist and Orton-Gillingham trained tutor, Heather is dedicated to helping learners find success in reading while making learning engaging, meaningful, and fun.

Meet Andrea!

With 14 years of experience as a teacher and tutor across all subject areas, including special education, Andrea loves the opportunity to work with learners one-on-one outside of the school setting. She enjoys the variety of working with multiple grade levels and content areas, and values building meaningful connections with learners and their families.

"I have gotten to know so many wonderful learners and families outside of the district where I teach during the day, and it has been a positive addition to my teaching career. And the best part is seeing how proud they are of their learning and accomplishments as they achieve goals, they weren't able to do when we first met!"

Some of her learners have even become like family, celebrating milestones together beyond academics. Andrea is excited to welcome new learners and looks forward to helping them grow with confidence and success.

Learning Aid Ohio is excited to welcome Troy Hunter as the new President & CEO of ElevateDD!

Please join us in giving Troy a warm welcome!

We are happy to announce that Troy Hunter has been named our new President & CEO, effective September 2.

Troy is no stranger to ElevateDD, having served on DSACO: Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio's Dancing with Our Stars Gala planning committee for the past six years. He has also regularly attended the Columbus Buddy Walk the past several years.

Troy believes deeply in elevating the voices and needs of people with developmental disabilities. His first priority will be to listen, learn, and connect with families, staff, and community partners.

Troy comes to us with significant experience and familiarity with the developmental disabilities community. He most recently served as the Managing Director of Policy at Groundwork Ohio. He also worked at OSU’s Nisonger Center, leading its early learning and early intervention program and serving on the faculty for the neurodevelopmental disabilities training program.

He currently teaches courses on race and equity, neurodiversity, and cultural competence at OSU’s College of Social Work.

We’re so excited to have Troy as our new President & CEO. Please join us in welcoming him to the ElevateDD family.

Meet Lauren!

Lauren has a passion for teaching and helping learners feel confident and prepared in the classroom. She believes in nurturing lifelong learners and loves how tutoring allows her to individualize instruction and support each learner's unique journey to success.

It is wonderful to get to individualize instruction and get to know the learners I work with, making the learning and activities engaging and related to what they are interested in learning more about."

With 13 years of teaching experience across a variety of subjects, Lauren brings a wealth of resources and strategies to every session. She’s committed to making each tutoring session engaging, personalized, and aligned with both learner and family goals.
