Dr. Seuss wrote the book “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”, a favorite gift given to people striking out on their own for the first time. If we were to write a book about the people of our community the title might be, “Oh, the Places You’ve Been, the Things You’ve Done & the Things You Want to & Will Do!!”

In 1982 at the height of the Cold War, rising tension with the Soviet Union and the threat of nuclear weapons looming, one woman started ”The Ribbon” peace project. On August 4, 1985, her vision came to life when 15,000 people from all 50 states, several countries, of all ages, faiths, traditions and backgrounds united together to form a 15-mile ribbon of peace panels around the Pentagon, U.S. Capitol and the White House. "Red, white and blue!" Our community came alive with smiles, laughter and patriotic decorations everywhere you looked. Families and guests enjoyed a great menu - the dining room was packed! Did we mention the open bar? Our annual outing to the Dublin, Ohio fireworks capped off the festive day.

At their last therapy visit, Blair and her mom, Lory, demonstrated how Therapy Dogs are trained in the “Leave It” command — a must-know skill for all their visits and every day too. Let’s face it — life can be messy. Crumbs on the floor, dropped medications, and well-meaning folks trying to sneak our furry friends a treat. But when they’re “on the job,” Therapy Dogs aren’t allowed to eat anything — no matter how tempting it might be. That’s where the “Leave It” command comes to the rescue, keeping our pups focused.
And Blair? She happily volunteered to show everyone how it’s done — the crowd couldn’t stop telling her what a good girl she is. Veterinarian Dr. Bob gave Blair two paws up for her impressive self-control, which left her mom filled with pride. She finished with a pretty spin in her dress and a bow for the audience. The girl knows how to work a room!

The photo shows kibble on her paws and scattered in front of her. For Blair, it was all part of a fun game — but it was also a perfect example of how well-trained and adorable our Therapy Dogs really are.

We kicked off summer in style with our Ready… Set… Summer Staff Appreciation Luncheon! Residents and staff came together to share a delicious, picnic-inspired meal, engage in lively conversations, and enjoy plenty of smiles and laughter. Gift bags added to the fun, making the afternoon feel extra special. It was a wonderful way to show our appreciation for the incredible team that makes our community such a great place to be.

We celebrate Father's Day a little differently here. Everyone was invited to our "DAD-icated to You" shindig to share an afternoon filled with music, dancing, and an open bar too. It was our way to honor the Dads and all the good men - the uncles, brothers, cousins, teachers, coaches, and friends - who didn’t wear an official "Father" badge but filled the job description.

We were honored to celebrate Flag Day, courtesy of community member Russ, with an impressive display of his amazing collection of historical U.S. flags lining our lobby. Each flag was labeled with its provenance, offering a glimpse into the history of our nation. In observance of the holiday, flags also lined the sidewalks of our pretty, back courtyard for those that chose to enjoy a sunny day outdoors in Columbus, Ohio!

The ceremonial setting of the Missing Soldiers Table has become a tradition at our Annual Memorial Day Salute. It's a powerful visual reminder that this is a day that all Americans should take a moment to reflect and remember the courageous men and women who lost their lives defending our country. To the many veterans who chose to make our community their home, we extend our sincere gratitude.

Westerville, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, was once again the site of the 17th Annual Memorial Day "Field of Heroes" tradition hosted by the Sunrise Rotary Club. More than 3000 full-size American flags were on display and open to the public 24 hours a day throughout the weekend. For those who visited, it was an opportunity to honor their personal heroes and all of America's veterans. It was also a time for us to honor the veterans and their families in our community.

Let the games begin! Yesterday afternoon came alive with wacky and creative games that turned the ordinary into extraordinary. Every corner buzzed with energy, smiles and laughter shared. The spirit of community filled the field. It was a celebration of play, connection, and letting loose — proving once and for all that imagination has no age limit. Smiles, surprises, shenanigans, Trillium Game Day delivered it all!
