Newcomers often think acupuncture is magical, leaving the clinic with a sense of mystical awe. Acupuncture's potential to alleviate pain and facilitate peacefulness has long been studied, but many patients still wonder how it works.

It works for many reasons, one of which is the web-like connective tissue, called FASCIA, that wires the body into discrete circuits. It nourishes the tissues and structures of the body and when needled (by an acupuncturist) sends a message which stimulates the body to respond.

Happy Chinese New Year! Today kicks off the beginning of many 15-day celebrations across the globe to usher in the year of the Fire Horse.

The horse is the 7th in a 12-year zodiac cycle (coincidentally there are 12 major acupuncture meridians). Every 12 years, the horse is associated with one of the elements: wood, earth, metal, water or fire. The fire horse falls once every 60 years, last occurring in 1966.

In 2026, many see the year of the fire horse as an opportunity to take bold steps, embrace change, and pursue new opportunties.
