Today’s Grand Rounds brought together Buckeyes past and present for an engaging and collaborative session. We were pleased to welcome back College of Medicine alumna Lindsey DeLott, MD, a board-certified neurologist and neuro-ophthalmologist at the University of Michigan, as the Rogers Bremer Lecture speaker.

The lecture was made possible through the Rogers Bremer Lecture Fund at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, whose team also coordinated the visit. We were additionally glad to host our colleagues from Nationwide Children’s Hospital Ophthalmology, making for a meaningful exchange of ideas and connection across institutions.

Centered on Inspiration. Innovation. Impact., the 52nd Annual North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (NANOS) meeting in Boston brought together leaders in the field - including our own team.

Our physicians, June Zhang, MD, PhD, Mairghread Casey, MD, and Hersh Varma, MD were joined by resident Lucie Moore, MD and alumni Raghav Vadhul, MD & Aaron Warning, MD, now a pediatric ophthalmology fellow at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

We’re especially excited to celebrate Dr. Warning, who was selected to present his work, “Low Visibility & An Air Traffic Control Outage.” Opportunities like this highlight our team’s commitment to advancing care and bringing the latest knowledge back to the patients we serve.

Global outreach in action - hello from the Dominican Republic! ✈️👁️

Our ophthalmology team is on the ground and already making an impact. Drs. Matthew Ohr, William Bloom (PGY3), and Robert Chambers (alumnus '85) arrived in the Dominican Republic yesterday for a global outreach trip focused on education, collaboration, and advancing eye care.

From Dr. Ohr’s lecture to time spent connecting with local residents and trainees, this trip reflects our shared commitment to improving vision care far beyond our own community. Following Drs. Christine Martinez and Maddie Hecker’s (PGY3) outreach trip to the Dominican Republic just last month, we’re proud to continue building these meaningful global partnerships and expanding access to expert eye care.

April is Sports Eye Safety Month, and it’s the perfect reminder that protecting your vision is just as important as protecting the rest of your body. Each year, thousands of sports-related eye injuries lead to permanent vision loss, but most can be prevented with the right protective eyewear. Whether you’re on the court, field, or rink, play smart and keep your eyes safe this season!

We’re proud to share that Drs. Shelly Jain and Sayoko Moroi recently represented our department at the 36th Annual Meeting of the American Glaucoma Society (AGS) in Rancho Mirage, California.

By staying at the forefront of the latest advances in glaucoma care, our physicians continue bringing valuable insights back to our team to help us deliver the highest level of care for our patients. We also loved seeing Dr. Jain reconnect with some of our glaucoma alumni during the meeting!
