In the interest of appeasing Facebook, Twitter (X), LinkedIn, TikTok and Instagram, we are making changes to some of Lauren's pictures. We've been gigged on this profile, as well as, Lauren's Law and Heads Up on Lauren Carter.

It would be nice if these social media platforms would AMPLIFY stories such as Lauren's and help END the Neglect and Abuse but, NO, instead it gives the powers that be the heebie jeebies.

FWIW, we happen to agree that the pictures may be 'sensitive' and 'potentially offensive' to some. Truth be told, it cranks up our sensitivities too and we're pretty offended by the whole thing. HOWEVER, there's a difference between salacious and educational and it would be helpful if these sites joined the fight to end it all.

** CALL FOR ATTORNEYS AND MEDIA **

The IDD community needs ATTORNEYS and MEDIA WARRIORS.

We are legal novice but it would appear that a couple recent Supreme Court decisions will be helpful to the IDD community. The decision involving the "Chevron Deference" shifts power AWAY from government entities and the decision reinforcing "Trial by Jury" re-validates a fundamental principle of American life.

Over the years, those who derive their power and pay through bureaucratic control have consistently imposed their decisions on the life of IDD people and their families. Those families can well explain how this has worked out.

LAWSUITS and PUBLICITY will change how all of this works.
LAWSUITS and PUBLICITY will end the Systemic Neglect and Abuse
LAWSUITS and PUBLICITY will save our Intellectually Developmentally Disabled loved ones

To The Legal Profession:
First, this is a noble cause but, more importantly, there's a ton of money in the system and many lawsuits will involve both providers and government systems.

To The Media Profession:
First, this is a noble cause but, more importantly, this is an opportunity to save a very vulnerable population from documented neglect and abuse and from a system that is sponsored by our local, state and federal governments.

1. Join our Monday podcasts and talk with families affected by the current system
2. Email Info@LaurenDeservesBetter.com and help us build a roster of advocates with the ability to affect change

Through Lawsuits and Publicity we will WIN THIS FIGHT!
The rest of the system is built solely for its own benefit.

Thank you, Mary Lebus and FOX19 for this outstanding article about Lauren and the ICF/IID system in place.

Greg, Lauren Carter's dad, described her experience as a "nightmare."

Can anyone figure out why our legislature supports the Neglect and Abuse of our IDD population?

Other than the campaign donations...that's an easy one.
And the hob knobbing...low hanging fruit on that one.
And the spouses who work in the industry...I mean, c'mon man.
And the investment portfolios in provider companies.
And the deference to their administrative romance.
And their acquiescence to, and preference for, bureaucratic solutions.

Other than those, what could be there motivations?

Here’s a post we’re just not likely to see.

Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities today put an end to the state of Ohio’s Systemic Neglect and Abuse of Individuals with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities as Governor Mike DeWine signed Lauren’s Law and made Parents/Families the Default Position and First Line of Defense in their care.

We will continue to support Lauren’s Law but not in the form of the ‘substitute’ garbage that HB465 became.

(Note: When we highlight the “Pretty Picture Propaganda” stuff, we are NEVER taking a shot at the IDD individuals involved. We are happy to see them out and about, involved in some sort of activity. WHAT WE ARE highlighting is how these events are used to buffalo the masses into believing that all is well with our IDD population and that these entities are doing such great work. The simple fact is, until we stop the Neglect and Abuse that the state condones, and that shill organizations perpetuate, we are supporting inhumane and inexcusable treatment of very vulnerable people)

"Lauren's Law" (Ohio HB465) was completely decimated by the committee it was assigned to. For reference, here is where it started. With regards to the 'substitute' bill, it is in NO WAY Lauren's Law and, as it moves forward, her name should be removed.

(Note: The camera provision was not in our original proposal. That was added by the sponsor)

I want FAMILIES FIRST to be the DEFAULT POSITION and FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE for the care of IDD individuals.

* AND *

I want the upper echelons of provider companies to face RICO charges for the criminal operations they are profiting from.

The proposal below has now been modified and written into a 'Draft' bill. Most of the elements made the cut. In addition, 'cameras in rooms' has been added. This is critical to improving care for those involved in ICF/IID care facilities and group homes.

Join us on Monday, 7/1 at 8 pm EDT for "IDD & Me" on X/Twitter. We'll have a little to talk about. I'm also going to extend an invitation to members of the Families and Aging committee to see if anyone wants to come on and explain the rationale behind altering HB465.

The Ohio House Families and Aging committee managed to both fumble and punt HB465. Here's a letter that was sent to the members.
**********
To the Honorable Members of the Ohio House Families and Aging Committee

Am I reading and interpreting this correctly?

This bill now has no provision for placing FAMILIES FIRST in the care of their IDD loved ones and the camera provision places the control, THE ENTIRE CONTROL, over their existence in the hands of ‘LICENSED RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES’!

The whole idea, and the necessary step, is to remove their ability to control this monitoring. If they “MAY” allow it, what does everyone think they are going to do?

Sec. 5123.1911. (A) A licensed residential facility may elect to permit facility residents to install and use electronic monitoring devices in a resident's room in the facility. If a facility permits residents to install and use electronic monitoring devices, the installation and use of an electronic monitoring device is subject to this section and sections 5123.1912 to 5123.1917 of the Revised Code. No resident or a resident's guardian or attorney in fact shall install or use an electronic monitoring device in a resident's room in a licensed residential facility unless the facility has permitted the use of electronic monitoring devices under this section.

Please let me know if I’m off base on this. We have vulnerable people, people who CANNOT DEFEND and CANNOT SPEAK for themselves, and who are being Neglect and Abuse AS YOU READ THIS, and we just punted the waiver provision and fumbled the camera provision.

Click here for the impromptu X Space about the meeting. At first, the camera provision sounded like a good thing but, the devil is in the details. https://x.com/i/spaces/1gqxvQNEXXeJB
