This kit comes from the Dalton Lee Condra Gift of Kindness Foundation to celebrate Dalton’s heavenly birthday, August 23rd
Title Idea: Breaking the Silence: Overdose Awareness
Introduction
Overdose is now the leading cause of accidental death in the United States. Every year, families lose loved ones—mothers, fathers, sons, daughters—to this crisis. Addiction isn’t a choice; it’s a disease, and overdoses can happen to anyone. Awareness and education are key to saving lives.
The Facts
In 2023, over 100,000 Americans died from overdoses.
Fentanyl is now the leading cause, found in nearly 70% of cases.
Narcan, a life-saving medication, can reverse opioid overdoses if used quickly.
Too often, families don’t know about these resources until it’s too late.
Recognizing an Overdose
Knowing the signs of an opioid overdose can save a life:
Slow, shallow, or stopped breathing
Unresponsiveness or unconsciousness
Blue or gray lips and fingertips
Pinpoint pupils
How to Respond
1. Call 911 immediately.
2. Administer Narcan if available.
3. Lay the person on their side to keep the airway clear.
4. Stay until help arrives.
For me, these numbers are not just statistics. On November 4, 2022, I lost my son, Dalton, to an overdose. He was only 26 years old. Dalton was so much more than his addiction—he was kind, funny, and full of love. Losing him shattered my world, but it also pushed me to raise awareness so other families don’t face the same pain.
To honor Dalton’s life, I started The Dalton Lee Condra Gift of Kindness Foundation. Our mission is to spread overdose education, provide Narcan to families, and remind communities that prevention and preparedness save lives.
Overdose awareness begins with knowledge and action. Carry Narcan, talk about the risks, and share resources. By working together, we can save lives and protect families from the heartbreak of overdose.
