Exhibition Statement:
This exhibition is a collection of works by emerging, midwestern artists Baylee Schmitt, Jess Schwarz, Leela Waters, and River Berry. Softer presents a variety of works in multiple mediums including crochet, weaving, latex, quilting, and ceramics that investigate the intimacy of material, space, and memory. These delicate works take nostalgic aesthetics of childhood whimsy turning them into plush abstractions of memory and experience. Each artist grapples with their personal reality through highly process-based work and installation, often subverting traditional craft techniques to express these narratives.

COMING MARCH 2, 2024!!

Today we began to de-install and install exhibitions at Sean Christopher Gallery Ohio and interestingly transitioned here from one wall installation of multiples (background) by Emma Vassar part of Young Hearts 13 featuring select artworks from Columbus College of Art & Design (ended yesterday), to a new wall piece of mixed media multiples (foreground) by Hannah M. Watters to be included in our upcoming TWENTY-SECOND ANNIVERSARY SHOW which opens this Saturday during the Short North’s monthly Gallery Hop! The Public is Invited!!
