This coming weekend all roads lead to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the Major League Barber "Philly Tradeshow"!

MLB, along with many national industry shows like Bronner Bros., Premiere Beauty Shows, International Beauty Shows, America's Beauty Show by Cosmetologists Chicago and more, support Hairstyles & Beauty for Hope mission of raising money to help Cancer Option Collaborative fulfill its mission.

Cancer Option Collaborative is a tax exempt organization bringing together resources
to help active treatment cancer patients in need succeed on their road to recovery and increase survivorship.

Join me in celebrating Juneteenth!

What is Juneteenth?

It is a holiday celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, enslaved people were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.

Freedom finally came on June 19, 1865, when some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas. The army announced that the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in the state, were free by executive decree. This day came to be known as "Juneteenth," by the newly freed people in Texas.

Please take a moment to remember the soldiers, both men and women, who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we have today then enjoy the rest of the day with family and friends.

Today I remember, AD-Dec, PFC. Joseph Mark Jenkins, US Army. His sacrifice happened May 20th @ the age of 23 (I was 19).

To do something different for people in the hair and beauty industry has been my desire for quite some time, I just didn't know what. Being the show charity at Bronner Brothers, Inc., Premiere Show Group, IBS Shows NY & Vegas, and several other shows across the country I had the privilege to engage with attendees. In doing so I learned that many, Barbers, Stylists, Make-Up Artists, Nail Techs, etc were suffering mentally, emotionally, physically, financially, spiritually and in relationships.

Since Cancer Option Collaborative (The COC) Hairstyles and Beauty for Hope Campaign hosted an industry show the last two years we decided to include a give back to the industry the way we know how.

I am pleased to announce that we are hosting the "Raising the Bar Barber, Beauty, & Wellness Expo!" on Sunday, August 25 and Monday, August 26 in Columbus, Ohio at the Airport Marriott.

This show will include quality education, energetic competitions & showcases, a variety of industry products and no cost basic health screenings. It is our desire to have attendees be able to know their numbers. It is well known that many don't know they suffer from hypertension simply because they haven't had their BP checked.
