Thanks to everyone who helped make our department’s booth at WestFest a success! We had a fantastic turnout and lots of fun with hands-on activities—from AAC demos and tongue strength contests to balance challenges, hearing screenings, and more. Great to see so many families from across Columbus join in the science fun!

As Audiology Awareness Month comes to a close, we'd like to express how proud we are of our alumni. One of our many fantastic alumni audiologists is Dr. Chorpenning, who is meeting a significant need by providing audiology services in schools.

Did you know this week is Educational Audiologist Awareness Week?
We’re excited to introduce Mrs. Tracy Chorpenning, Scranton’s very own Educational Audiologist! Mrs. Chorpenning joined The Scranton School team full-time this year, and we’re so grateful for the incredible support and services she provides to our students and their families.

It's October: AAC Awareness Month! AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) is the term for all forms of communication (other than speech) that people use to express their thoughts, needs, wants, and ideas. This is the perfect time to highlight the fundamental importance of the Communication Bill of Rights.
These 12 rights assert that every person has the right to communicate in all parts of their lives, promoting full participation. The 12th right is especially critical: "The right to individualized, working augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems and other assistive technology (AT) at all times."
AAC isn't a privilege—it's a human right that ensures dignity, respect, and full partnership. This month, let's commit to upholding these rights for all communicators! If you or someone you know needs AAC, contact us!
