✨ Sometimes Understanding Isn't the Same As Healing ✨
We get so focused on identifying or understanding our trauma that we forget to actually ask ourselves how we are feeling. We have identified our trauma responses, know our triggers, and can even state the neuroscience behind it all — yet still feel stuck.
That’s because understanding can lead to intellectualizing and intellectualizing is a protective mechanism. Your nervous system would rather think about the pain than feel it — because thinking feels safer than reliving those raw emotions.
Some people spend years in therapy but are stuck in the cognitive processing of it not in true healing of the nervous system.
HERE'S THE KEY: both understanding and feeling are necessary for real healing.
🧠 Knowledge without embodied emotional processing keeps you stuck in your head, in the cognitive.
💛 Feeling without understanding can feel overwhelming or chaotic but with support from a trained therapist accessing those emotions is essential.
True healing and transformation happens when you can hold both cognitive and emotional processing of your trauma— when you understand your patterns and allow yourself to feel what needs to be felt, safely and with support. That's where healing happens. Let your therapist walk with you in connecting back to your heart.
Learn how to move gently from your head to your body… slowly, safely, and with grace — so you can truly heal from the inside out. 🌿
