🌿 Mtn Mama Update 🌿

Friends, I want to share a quick update with you. Not many of you know I’ve been navigating some health challenges with chronic pain and exhaustion. It’s been a tough season, but I’m grateful to share some good news — after lots of testing, I do not have Lupus or RA. That was a big relief! 🙏

I am indeed using my own products through all of this, and they’ve been helping me so much. But the truth is, the business has simply outgrown me. I’d love to hand it over to someone with the energy and vision this company deserves.

Because of these health challenges, I’ll be keeping shop hours a little lighter right now. You can find me in the store on:
📅 Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
🕚 11:00 am – 3:00 pm

I’m still actively looking for the right person to take the reins of Mtn Mama LLC / Stillwater H**p. This business has a strong following and so much potential, and I will entertain all offers.

A New Chapter for Mtn Mama

Eight years ago, I started Mtn Mama LLC / Stillwater H**p with a simple dream: to help people and pets feel better naturally. Since then, we’ve grown into a community that stretches from Montana to every corner of the country — and I’ve loved every minute of serving you. 💚

Now, it’s time for me to begin a new chapter in my own life. By October 1, Mtn Mama will either be closing its doors or — what I truly hope — passing the torch to the right person who can carry forward the mission and legacy we’ve built together.

This business has a strong following and incredible potential for growth. If the right person steps in, they’ll inherit not just a business, but a movement.

Until then, I’d love to see you in the shop, hear your stories, and celebrate this amazing journey we’ve shared. Thank you for making the last 8 years unforgettable. 💫

The Isle of Skye was an especially meaningful experience, as we learned a lot of family history around the Clan Donald of Skye. Memorials commemorating the clan’s bravery and sacrifice at the Culliden Battle Ground, the clan’s castle, and a war memorial near Oban.

Last night we enjoyed the night life a little bit in downtown Glasgow. This city is so interesting as far as the people and architecture. Historical building still being used today, woven into modern structures almost seamlessly. Dinner was a fabulous Italian restaurant called La Lanterna, then we went to an Irish Brewery, Innis & Gunn, and ended up a few blocks away at Hootenanny’s. What a riot!

My Grandpa was Scottish. Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1924. This morning we stopped at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, one of 2 hospitals still in operation today that were there in 1924. I believe this is the hospital my Grampa was born in. It was a tremendous honor to see it in real life and take pics for my family. ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

So, a few weeks before our trip I saw this pic on the facebook about Jax being the official stamp licker in Portree on the Isle of Skye. Well, if you have known me for 5 minutes you know I’m going to bring some hearty Montana “pets and scritches” to Jax!
So of course, while we are at Portree on the Isle of Skye, we had to go to the post office and mail post cards I’d purchased in Edinburgh.
Turns out, Jax is real! He belongs to the Post Master of 5 years ago, is still living with that post master and is on his way to lick stamps in Wales. The current post master has “May”, a sweet girl who is an excellent greeter for the Community Center Post Office in Portree, Isle of Skye, Scotland. ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

What a lively supper! LIVE music that everyone sang and danced to, it was exactly what you expect in a Scottish Pub. We even had traditional fares for our meals and it was all delicious!

I like Inverness. It seems the most “real” of all the places we’ve been so far. Today we’ll rest and maybe go to town for a bit.
Last night we ate at a hole-in-the-wall restaurant/pub. This bloke was watching some sort of international darts competition with two of his buddies. He walks up to the dart board right behind us, takes 3 darts out of his pocket, and tosses them very casually to what I think is a perfect score? It was all great fun!

🦄 Stuart’s Highland Highlights!



What a wild day for our favorite wandering unicorn!

First Stop: The Standing Stones
Stuart kicked off his magical journey channeling his inner Outlander at the mysterious Standing Stones! He tried to time travel by pressing his horn against the rock to no avail.

Reindeer Rendezvous! 🦌
Then it was off to meet his majestic mountain cousins in the Cairngorms! Stuart tried blending in with the herd, but let’s just say… reindeer said hard pass. 😂

Culloden Battlefield ⚔️
To wrap up the day, Stuart trotted solemnly through the historic Culloden Moor, paying his respects and reflecting on the bravery and heartbreak of the Jacobite warriors. Even paid his respects at the memorial markers for the Stewart clan, McDonalds, MacGillivrays, and many others.

Scotland’s national animal is the unicorn—yes, the mythical, horned horse of legend! 🦄 And while that might sound whimsical, it actually carries deep historical and symbolic meaning for the Scots.

Why a Unicorn?

The unicorn has been a symbol of purity, strength, independence, and power for centuries in Western mythology. It was believed to be so strong and untamable that it could only be captured by a virgin—symbolizing something wild, proud, and fiercely free.

Sound like anyone you know? Exactly. It’s a perfect fit for Scotland.

Historical Significance
• Adopted in the 12th century, the unicorn appeared on the Scottish royal coat of arms under King William I.
• When James VI of Scotland became James I of England in 1603 and united the crowns, the royal coat of arms was redesigned to feature both a unicorn (for Scotland) and a lion (for England). Traditionally, lions symbolize dominance and bravery, while unicorns represent noble independence and purity.
• In heraldry, the Scottish unicorn is often shown chained, symbolizing that even something so powerful had to be tamed by the crown (a nod to the struggle for Scottish sovereignty).

Fun Facts
• You can still see unicorns on many buildings, monuments, and government documents in Scotland today—including at Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace.
• The unicorn appears on passport stamps and British royal coats of arms used in Scotland.
