Mental illness is not a choice.
In our community, tragedies like the recent Lalit Pradhan case remind us that severe mental illness is a complex interplay of biology, trauma, and environment,
not simply “individual decisions.”

We must move beyond stigma, invest in culturally informed care, and involve families in healing. Because recovery isn’t just about medicine, it’s about understanding, compassion, and changing the systems around us.
