We are proud of the work of COTS and its incredible emergency management professionals who are helping keep our community safe. On Emergency Management Recognition Day, we extend a heartfelt thank you for their work and the work of all emergency management professionals!

Columbus, Ohio — The State of Ohio proudly recognizes Aug. 15 as Emergency Management Recognition Day to honor the dedicated professionals who work behind the scenes year-round to protect communities before, during, and after emergencies and disasters.

For the COTS 36-county region, Jodi, Kelsey, Arin, and Sierra serve in the emergency management (EM) role.

Emergency managers play a critical role in coordinating preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts for crisis situations and disasters. From developing emergency plans, managing resources, and releasing public information to providing resources such as disaster assistance and staffing Emergency Operations Centers, their work helps save lives and reduce the impact of disasters on individuals, communities, infrastructure, and the environment.

Teens are taking the lead in improving health and wellness issues facing youth across Central Ohio through the CMA Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council. On , we’re highlighting the incredible impact of this council of 13- to 18-year-olds. They meet monthly for hands-on experience in healthcare philanthropy, evaluating grant applications, supporting local nonprofits, and championing youth wellness.

🏆 The Columbus Medical Association and CMA Foundation are proud to announce the new Marc L. Parnes, MD Service Award. Dr. Parnes has served our organization and affiliates for more than a decade and a half, donating hundreds of hours of his time to improve the health and well-being of physicians and the central Ohio community.

To continue his legacy, this annual award will go to a volunteer whose dedication and service consistently demonstrate our values and mission. Nominations are now open and will be accepted through September 19.

On Fridays, we are highlighting the impact of the CMA Foundation’s investment in physicians and community healthcare.

A few weeks ago, a new class graduated from the Leadership Academy, a transformational program helping physicians advance their leadership and well-being. We’re proud to have helped offset the tuition cost to support more than 200 physicians since 2012!
