April Sampson was a remarkable woman whose strength, compassion and dedication touched countless lives. Her legacy continues to inspire our community and lives on through the April Sampson Cancer Center.

A Tribute to April Sampson
These beautiful flowers (picked from the ASCC landscaping) are more than just a seasonal delight—they’re a reflection of our namesake, April Sampson, whose love for floral design and creativity touched so many lives.

April owned and operated Sampsons, a beloved floral and gift shop in Lincoln for over 25 years. With a keen eye for style and a passion for decorating, she brought joy and beauty to her community. In the early days, Sampsons bloomed in Rathbone Village as a flower shop, and later evolved into a home accessories store at 70th & Pioneers.

Her artistic spirit and dedication continue to inspire us every day. Learn more about April Sampson at https://www.bryanhealth.com/locations/profile/info/april-sampson-cancer-center/about/april-sampson/.

Nobody in Brady’s family had previous healthcare experience. Growing up, he simply knew he wanted to help people. That longing eventually turned into a career as a cardiovascular sonographer.

At Bryan Heart, Brady said he feels a standard to achieve excellence, which is present all around him.

“I know I can refer my family and friends here, and they are going to receive quality care,” he said.

As Bryan celebrates its 100th anniversary, Brady said he takes inspiration from how the organization has adapted throughout its history.

“Not every health system lasts 100 years,” he said.

We're honored to spotlight Brady as one of our Rising Stars – brightening the future of health care, right here at Bryan Health.

Congratulations to Oscar Lucar, PA-C for receiving the Care Like Crazy Award!

A colleague shared these kind words about Oscar.
"Oscar went above and beyond helping a Spanish-speaking patient. She was a patient of a different surgeon, but he helped call the patient and coordinate her coming in for a card for Eliquis. He even stayed late and met her at the hospital doors to provide her with this information and ensure that she understood the diagnosis and plan of care."

Oscar, thank you for the care you provide daily to your patients. You make a difference in the lives of others. We are honored that you are part of the Bryan Medical Staff.

When Joshua Parde’s mom was receiving treatment for breast cancer, he started folding origami butterflies to distract himself. Then he gave one to someone, and the smile he received in return inspired him to share more.

Now you’ll see origami butterflies all over the April Sampson Cancer Center. He encourages people to pick up two – one for themselves and one to brighten someone else’s day.

Watch this video to hear his story and how his work with the Boy Scouts is teaching acts of kindness to the next generation.
