Why Choose Columbus Hospice?
At Columbus Hospice, you’re choosing more than just care — you’re choosing a legacy of compassion, expertise and mission-driven service. Here’s what sets us apart:

🌿 Deep local roots & nonprofit mission
We were founded in 1979 and have been serving the Chattahoochee Valley community ever since — proudly independent and nonprofit, with our focus squarely on patients and families, not profit.

As a true nonprofit, we’re committed to caring for patients regardless of their ability to pay.

👥 Staff who stay — and who specialize
We believe experience matters. Many of our team members have been here for years, bringing continuity and trust to the people we serve.

We are dedicated to professional excellence — our team includes more staff certified in hospice and palliative care than many local competitors, ensuring your loved one is in expert hands.

🏥 Comprehensive care — in-patient and out-patient
Whether you prefer the comfort of home or require more intensive care, we deliver. Our services include in-home care and our dedicated inpatient facility (the Columbus Hospice House) designed for when more advanced symptom management or respite is needed.

🛡️ Quality you can trust
As the area’s original nonprofit hospice, we hold ourselves to the highest standards — our accreditation, longevity, and community recognition reflect that commitment.

✨ When you refer or choose us, you’re choosing:

A team focused entirely on your comfort, dignity, and quality of life

A nonprofit model that reinvests every resource into patient-care rather than profit

A local organization with a long history in our community and a staff who truly know the area and its needs

Expert, certified care delivered where it matters most — at home or on our campus

Your choice matters. When it comes to hospice care, you deserve compassion, experience, and a team who puts people first. Choose Columbus Hospice.

Columbus Hospice offers excellent and compassionate care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, but our care extends above and beyond clinical care. Did you know we also have a program available to help your pets?

Columbus Hospice has the Pet Peace of Mind program. The groundbreaking program enables hospice patients to keep their pets at home with them throughout their end-of-life journey. The Pet Peace of Mind program is unique to hospice care in that it targets hospice patients who are unable to maintain appropriate routine health care and nutrition for their pets because of financial and/or physical disability.

Vaccinations, grooming and flea control often go unattended without help. The Pet Peace of Mind Program will fund these needs. Columbus Hospice Volunteers will provide an integral part of the success of this program. They will transport the patient’s pet to and from the veterinarian and also the groomer if needed. Volunteers will even deliver dog and cat food and cat litter to the patient's home, too.

The Pet Peace of Mind Program provides Columbus Hospice patients and caregivers the assurance that someone understands the role of their pets in contributing to their emotional and spiritual well-being.a

Myth vs. Facts: 3 Things you might not know about Columbus Hospice

❎Myth: Hospice is a place.
✅Fact: Hospice is a type of care. Patients usually receive care wherever they live. Hospice house can provide additional care and support when needed, typically respite care or end of life.
❎Myth: Hospice is for people with “no hope”
✅Fact: With hospice, the miracle isn’t in the cure, it’s in the care. Because people get substantial relief from pain and other symptoms they can choose exactly how they want to spend their final weeks or months of life.
❎Myth: Hospice care is expensive
✅Fact: Hospice care is generally covered by Medicare or Medicaid. Furthermore, with Columbus Hospice, no one is ever turned away because of their inability to pay. We will never charge a fee to a patient or family.

The holidays can be filled with joy — but for many, they also bring moments of deep grief and reflection. 💛

If you’re missing someone this season, know that it’s okay to feel both the joy of the season and the ache of loss. Give yourself permission to honor your loved one in ways that feel right to you — light a candle, share a favorite memory, or simply take a quiet moment to remember.

At Columbus Hospice, our care doesn’t end when the holidays begin. Our grief support team is here to help you navigate this season with compassion and hope. 💙
