Colville Animal Hospital is sorry to announce that Dr. Jeremy and his family will be leaving us to relocate to the great sunny state of Florida. While we wish him the best, this will alter the services that CAH can offer to our community. For some time now, we have been trying to add a 3rd doctor to our practice to help share our load, so losing a doctor with further stain the resources that we have. Here are some of the anticipated changes.
First and foremost, our after-hours emergency services will be extremely limited. One doctor cannot work 24 hours a day. My mental and physical health will be dependent on having time to recoup when I am not at the office. Our priority will be ongoing cases that have been seen at our clinic and we will do our best to try to respond to most large animal cases, but a large majority will likely be referred to Deer Park and Spokane Emergency Clinics. Some Online resources that offer virtual or phone conversations with accredited veterinarians that may help walk people through what to do with some emergencies a home include: Dutch Pet, TelePAWS, Vetster, whiskerDocs and Pawp.
Farm calls will not be available during office hours as I will be unable to leave my scheduled appointments. We will do our best to try to deal with large animal emergencies during the day, but they will have to be brought into the clinic to be seen. Unfortunately scheduled farm calls will also be unavailable as they are too time consuming with the work load I will have on a daily basis.
Equine services will be restricted to emergency type situations ( colic, chokes and lacerations etc.) Routine lameness exams and reproductive services are beyond my area of expertise and will not be available unless we are able to hire a doctor that has interest in those areas.
Small animal orthopedic service will also be limited. Though we have been in contact with a retired board-certified surgeon who is relocating to our area, his arrival date is uncertain.
There will be days that I have will have personal engagements and if we are unable to have a relief doctor in, the clinic may be closed. Staffing will be a delicate balance between what we need to support a single doctor, and what a business a single doctor clinic will be able to financially support.
We ask for your patience and prayers as we struggle to replace the void left by Dr Jeremy’s departure. As we always have, CAH will try it best to be available to Stevens County residents and their beloved pets.
